AMC EP hosts baby shower for JR Martinez

All My Children's JR Martinez will soon be the proud dad of a baby girl. AMC's former executive producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers, hosted a baby shower for Martinez and his girlfriend, Diana Gonzalez-Jones. Their baby is due in May.

It's safe to say that former All My Children star, JR Martinez (Brot Monroe), and his girlfriend, Diana Gonzalez-Jones, will soon become the proud parents of a baby girl -- at least it was evident from the pink that warmed the home of AMC's former executive producer Julie Carruthers, who hosted the couple's English-tea-themed baby shower Saturday, March 17, 2012.

Martinez told People that the couple's immediate families live on the East Coast, which had caused him to worry about the support network his new family would have. The outpouring of love and support from the 40 guests attending the shower brought him to tears. Upon seeing a new bassinet, stroller, and plethora of pink outfits, the war veteran, motivational speaker, actor, and Dancing With the Stars champion realized, "my man cave dreams are out the window."

With new dreams of teaching his daughter to Samba, JR Martinez seems just as happy as the day in 2011 when he learned that he'd be a father. Back then, he'd anxiously rushed between dance practice and doctor's appointments. The couple expects to welcome their new daughter in May.

Martinez got his acting start on All My Children in 2008 when the show created a role that blended reality and daytime drama. Martinez proved to be the perfect fit to play Brot Monroe, an Iraq war veteran who returned to Pine Valley with real-life battle wounds and a mission to mend his broken heart. Until AMC's cancellation in 2011, Martinez and AMC used Brot Monroe to tell a poignant and true-to-life story of heroism and survival.

Martinez continues to do what he does best by inspiring others daily. On Twitter, he recently wrote, "I get motivated by speaking to u. I get motivated by speaking the truth. I get motivated by empowering youth, just saying believe in u!!!"
