Susan Lucci on Caitlyn Jenner, being scolded by her husband, and Devious Maids sexy new season

All My Children's Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane) comments on Bruce Jenner's transformation as well as being scolded by her longtime husband.

With season three of Devious Maids having premiered this week, Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane, All My Children), is making the publicity rounds and talking about her former soap opera days. But that's not all she's opened up about in the past week. La Lucci gave her opinion on Caitlyn Jenner and offered up some humorous details about how she and her Austrian husband, Helmut Huber, met.

The soap opera world is abuzz about The Bold and the Beautiful's Maya (Karla Mosley) storyline, just as the nation is abuzz about Bruce Jenner's transition into Caitlyn Jenner. So, of course, the topic has come up with Lucci, who praises AMC show creator Agnes Nixon for pioneering LGBT issues in the world of daytime.

"Agnes Nixon was so ahead of her time with the storylines, with transgender, and... my 16-year-old daughter [Bianca, Eden Riegel] was coming out to me," she told Access Hollywood, adding that Bruce Jenner's transition into Caitlyn Jenner is awe-inspiring. "I just have to give him all the credit in the world. Life is too short. You have got to be true to yourself and live your life the way you want to, and I think probably the same kind of courage that made him an Olympic champion... it's who he is, and now she is. It takes a lot of courage to make a decision like that."

Speaking of courage, while it's not nearly in the same vein, we have to give major props to the actress for braving her first encounters with longtime husband Helmut Huber, who used to be her boss back in the day. "I worked for him while I was in college," she shares. "I was in college and not brilliant in the restaurant business at all, and he would kind of scold me, you know, the way I carried a tray, which was not right, my dresses were too short, my hair was too big... And they hired college girls during the summertime at the Garden City Hotel, in my hometown, and I asked the girl, ' Who is that who is scolding me all the time?' And she said, 'That's your boss, stupid!'"

Luckily, the scolding came to a halt as soon as a romance formed, and the pair has been married since 1969. Since then, Lucci has enjoyed a 41-year run on AMC, followed by a role on Devious Maids, which just entered its third season. To catch the steamy drama, tune in to Lifetime on Monday nights at 9/8PM.
