Geller Wins, AMC Denied by TV Guide

Being nominated is an honor in itself. For Days of our Lives, however, winning wasn't so bad either. The NBC soap was named the top soap in the First Annual TV Guide awards, besting All My Children, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless.

In other AMC appearances, Kim Delaney (ex-Jenny Gardner) was nominated in the Favorite Actress in a Drama.

AMC alum Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall) was a big winner at the First Annual TV Guide awards. Among the many awards the actress picked up for her work on the WB's Buffy The Vampire Slayer were Sexiest Female Star, Best Hairdo, and Favorite Teen Character. Buffy The Vampire Slayer took an award for Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy program.

Winners of the awards were determined by ballots submitted by TV Guide readers.
