Someone wearing gloves tipped over a space heater in the stables. Edmund noticed it and got up out of his chair but was hit in the head and knocked out before he could stop the fire. Ethan was there and saw Zach next to Edmund and together they carried him out and called 911.

Inside the house, Maria wondered why Brooke looked so worried and she blamed work and didn't want to tell Maria what Edmund said about wanting to destroy her. The fire alarm sounded in the house and Maria ran out.

Anita and Aidan worried about Lily, especially after Jack called to ask where she was. They went to the stables to look for her and found Edmund, as did Maria. Maria looked at Zach when she found a bleeding head wound on Edmund. She struggled to stabilize him and they all heard Lily scream. Aidan went into the burning stables and found her as a beam fell on Zach. Ethan found Zach who asked if he was going to let him die. Aidan pleaded with Lily to come to him and she finally took his hand and nearly fell through the floor. Paramedics arrived and took Edmund and also checked out Lily and Zach.

Jonathan showed up at Maggie's apartment and found Reggie and Danielle packing up. Jonathan guessed Maggie had run off with Bianca and was furious. After he left, Reggie got a call from Jack and went to Wildwind to look for Lily.

Greenlee and Ryan were upset to find Jonathan's room empty and Ryan beat himself up for leaving him alone, making Greenlee feel guilty. She told Ryan she wanted to save their marriage and suggested that if Ryan has to worry about Jonathan being loose, perhaps he should be locked up for treatment. When Jonathan returned, Ryan was upset to learn he'd gone to find Maggie. Jonathan played innocent, pretending to be happy for Maggie and said he couldn't come between Ryan and Greenlee any longer. Alone, Greenlee told Jonathan he didn't fool her and accused him of having a pity party and being a manipulative freak. Ryan overheard their argument and Jonathan telling her that if whoever poisoned her had another chance, it would be bye-bye Greenlee. Ryan returned to the room and Greenlee left. Ryan told Jonathan he heard what he said to Greenlee. Jonathan complained that Greenlee pushes his buttons but Ryan figured out that he hates her. Jonathan denied it.

Palmer and Adam were positively gleeful at the hospital and told David he was fired. Joe informed David they would be petitioning the AMA to revoke his license.

JR was rude to Babe when she arrived to drop off their baby's favorite things, although she tried to get along with him for the sake of the baby. He passed her a copy of their divorce and she asked if he ever loved her or just used her to stick it to Adam. He just passed along his condolences to the next moron she marries. He also warned her to keep Jamie away from his son. Palmer and Adam returned and they all asked her to leave. Adam and Palmer sipped scotch and delighted in picturing Krystal in jail and telling Babe about David losing his job. Palmer said he'd never forgive her for letting him think Dixie's grandson was gone. They continued to threaten and torment her and she just told them to bring it on and left.

At the hospital, Lily freaked out about everyone touching her and Jack authorized sedation. Zach and Ethan glared at each other and Zach asked why Ethan didn't leave him. Brooke watched tearfully as Edmund was treated. Lily was checked into a room and Aidan explained to Jack what happened about her seeing him kiss Anita. Lily came around but only kept counting. Anita refused to treat Zach. Edmund flatlined but Maria refused to give up.

At the hospital, Zach is convinced that Ethan's heroic rescue which saved his life is an indication that he's a good man. Ethan is disgusted with himself for saving Zach's life and let's his father know it. Zach is more convinced than ever that cutting Ethan out of the Cambias fortune is the right thing to do because Ethan is not tainted by the Cambias curse.

Maria, David Hayward and Dr. Joe Martin work feverishly to save Edmund's life while Brooke hovers nearby in a state of shock and worry. Maria stubbornly refuses to give up even after Joe and David realize that there is nothing that they can do. Edmunds injuries are just too extensive. When Maria finally accepts that Edmund is gone she allows David to call his time of death. Edmund is pronounced dead at 9:33am. Devastated, Maria leaves the room and immediately sees Zach. She demands to know what he did to her husband. When Zach asks to speak to her alone both Ethan and Anita caution her against being alone with him but Maria ignores them and leads the way for her and Zach to have some privacy.

Ethan is ranting to Kendall about Zach and his need to save Ethan from the Cambias curse when he mentions hitting Zach in the back of the head. He goes on to let her know that he is sure Zach was behind the shooting but with Edmund's death proving that is nearly impossible as Edmund with the only one who knew how to contact the hitman.

Once alone, Maria beings to immediately question Zach then accuses him of going after a defenseless man in a wheelchair. Zach shocks Maria when he reveals to her that not only could Edmund walk but he had trapped them in the shed. Maria doesn't believe him. She yells and rants at him before breaking down in tears, overcome with grief. Zach comforts her but Maria doesn't want that. She pulls herself together long enough to ask him what proof he has to support his claims. Zach admits that he doesn't have any but promises her that he had nothing to do with Edmund's death. Ethan walks up just then accuses Zach of being a liar. He tells Maria that not only was he there, but that he saw Zach kill Edmund.

Brooke takes the news of Edmund's passing badly. In a state of shock she goes into the room and sits beside him. Trying to make sense of the events that led to his untimely death, Brooke asks him, "What happened Edmund?." But of course there is no answer. As she sits by his side, she tenderly kisses his forehead.

Jamie is not happy to hear that Babe had been to see JR. He suggests that they find a Justice of the Peace to get married as soon as possible but Babe is reluctant even after she tells him that she is officially a free woman. Her divorce is final. When she explains that she just wants to wait until things settle down, Jamie insists that she tell him the real reason. She finally admits that JR is determined and he's not going to give up making her pay for what she's done to him. She fears that anyone close to her will get hurt in the process.

Tad visits Krystal in jail, posing as her brother. When Derek gets wind of it, he goes to see for himself and walks up just as Tad and Krystal are kissing. He informs Tad that the rule for visitors, family only, applies to everyone including the Martins. Tad ignores Derek and continues spending the last minutes he has with Krystal kissing her. Derek relents. He tells the guard that Tad can stay until Krystal is taken to court and sentenced.

Lily is in a hospital room surrounded by Reggie, Jack, Danielle and Aidan. Aidan tries to apologize to Lily for hurting her but it doesn't seem to get through to Lily. Still too upset with events, Jack asks Aidan to leave. Before he walks out, Reggie makes a point of thanking him for saving Lily's life. In the hallway, Aidan sees Anita who is clearly still in a state of shock. He asks her what's wrong and she tearfully tells him that Edmund has died.

Later, Jack informs Reggie that he has a call in for a doctor who can hopefully get through to an unresponsive Lily. As everyone leaves the room, Lily has a few flashbacks of a pool of blood in hay all the while mumbling to herself "Red, red, red...." When Jack returns a bit later, Lily is rocking herself back and forth but still remains unresponsive even after Jack tries to reassure her that he loves her and will do his best not let anything bad happen to her.

Livia Frye is not happy to be representing Krystal, Babe and David in court and is only doing so as a favor to Tad. When they all convene in court for the sentencing, the judge is interrupted by Erica before rendering his sentence. She insists that she be given an opportunity to tell the judge how their actions affected the victims. JR too stands up and asks to be heard as well. The judge decides to let them speak. Each make and impassioned speech about the pain and suffering they endured as a result of Krystal, Babe and David's actions. Afterwards, the judge decides to take a short recess to consider their statements. When he returns, he expresses his disgust for the plea bargain but decides to uphold it. He sentences Krystal to 10 years in prison, demands that David give up his medical license and then orders Babe and David to report to their probation officer 3 times a week and collect trash as their community service. Before Krystal is taken to prison, Tad promised her that he will be there every visiting day while she in turn tells him that she loves him. Adam, Erica and JR watch as Krystal is taken away in front of a weeping Babe whom they have no empathy for.

Simone finds Greenlee on the roof of Fusion standing near the ledge. Panic stricken, she rushes over and pulls her back. Greenlee assures her that she wasn't about to repeat the Green Butterfly act. When Simone questions her about the obvious secret that she and Kendall have between them, Greenlee confides that she suspects Jonathan of poisoning her. They return to the offices where Greenlee starts questioning Simone about anything she might have noticed during the time when she was poisoned. At first Simone doesn't recall anything out of the ordinary but then she remembers that Jonathan was always running off to fetch Greenlee a glass of orange juice or something to drink. He seemed obsessed with keeping her hydrated while he never extended the same concern for her or anyone else. Greenlee realizes that this could be significant.

Ryan asks Dr. Robinson over for an emergency session with him and Jonathan. When the doctor arrives, he tells him that he wants to explore Jonathan's feelings for Greenlee. Jonathan tries to make it sound as if the animosity and distrust between he and Greenlee is one sided and primarily of Greenlee's making. He then tries to shift the discussion from Greenlee to an incident during his childhood when he was victimized but neither Ryan nor the doctor permit it. Agitated, he talks about Greenlee but inadvertently refers to her as "Gail." It's their mother's name. Ryan catches the slip immediately and probes further, questioning why he referred to Greenlee as Gail. Jonathan tries to bush it off as insignificant but Ryan doesn't buy it. When the doctor asks Jonathan to tell him about his mother, Jonathan seems to have difficulty. Ryan tries to help him by recalling his own memories, talking about the "blue sky" days which were wonderful and he touches on her heavy drinking. Jonathan takes over, recalling how she used to ask him to fix her drinks and how he would do it despite knowing it was poison to her. How she always praised him for making her the best drinks. While he is talking Ryan recalls watching Jonathan fixing a cup of coffee for Greenlee and handing it to her at Fusion. He remembers Greenlee commenting that the drink had some bite to it. When the doctor calls an end to the session and leaves Ryan takes the opportunity to leave as well. Alone, Jonathan picks up a water bottle and toasts out loud to his mother.

At the hospital, Maria demands that Zach denounce Ethan for making false allegations but Zach remains stoically silent. Just then Derek, who had been called by Ethan, arrives and demands to know what's going on. He's told of Edmund's death and what Ethan witnessed. According to Ethan, he ran into Zach who was determined to confront Edmund. Realizing things were not going to go well for Edmund, Ethan hit Zach over the head with a shovel and went to warn Edmund that Zach was looking for him. Edmund wasn't intimidated. He insisted on dealing with Zach himself. Ethan, fearing trouble, decided to follow him and witnessed Zach hitting Edmund over the head with the same shovel that Ethan used on Zach. He also mentions seeing a conveniently tipped over space-heater which caught the straw on fire. Ethan then turns to Zach and tells him that the reason he saved his life was so that he could face the punishment for his crimes.

Taking Zach's silence as an admission of guilt, Maria rages at Zach. She pieces together what she believes are all of Zach's transgressions and crimes as Derek takes notes. Disgusted with herself for what she sees as her own culpability, she realizes that the price she has paid is the murder of the love of her life. She tells Zach that she wishes he was the one who had died. Meanwhile, Kendall pulls Ethan off to the side and confronts him about the revelations he's made which he had not mentioned earlier when they had discussed the events. Ethan swears to her that he's telling the truth. After Zach is arrested and brought to the police station, Derek questions Ethan about his statement and whether he'll be able to testify against his father in court. Ethan points out to Derek that he may share his DNA but Zach is not a father to him. He will have no problem testifying against him in court.

Ryan walks into Fusion and asks to speak to Greenlee alone. After Simone leaves, he tells her that he had an emergency session with Dr. Robinson but before he can do more than mention that she and his mother were discussed, Kendall walks in with the startling news that Edmund is dead and that Zach killed him. She goes on to tell them that he is also the one who shot Ryan and poisoned Greenlee.

As Brooke leaves Edmund's side, Joe Martin runs into her in the hallway. He offers her his condolences and leaves. Alone, Brooke replays a recent conversation she had with Edmund regarding Maria and Zach. Later, she offers Maria comfort, reminding her that she and Edmund loved each other. Maria then goes in to see Edmund. She softly kisses him then, grief stricken, weeps over his body.

Derek is confused as to why Zach refuses to defend himself in the face of the accusations that have been made against him. Zach implies that there is no need to do so, as there was an eyewitness that has stepped forward. Furious, Derek storms out of the room, allowing Ethan access. Moving to the door frame from his position where he watched through the window, he smugly regards his father. Zach asks what he thinks about how things are going - will it be better than watching him burn in the fire? Ethan tells him that he promised a long, slow punishment - and he kept his word, as only a Ramsey would. Just then, Ryan storms into the room and, as Derek watches from the other side of the two way glass, he demands a confirmation from Zach that he was the one that poisoned Greenlee. Instead of answering directly, Zach defers to Ethan - as he is the one who made the accusation. Before Ethan can say anything, Ryan asks him if he actually saw Zach commit the crime, or if he was just throwing accusations around to see what would stick. Ethan swears that he saw Zach commit the crime, and at that point, Ryan wants to know everything that happened. Ethan hands the ball back to his father, saying that Zach should be the one supplying the details. Ryan asks Ethan to leave the room so that he can talk to Zach alone. Once the trio becomes a duo, Ryan goes on about how Edmund was a good man, and how two children have lost their father and Maria is a widow because of what Zach has done. Ryan insists on an explanation - how could he kill that kind of love? Was it something planned out, or was it something that happened in the spur of the moment? Zach only offers this - that he understands more than Ryan thinks he does.

Zach is confused as to why, when the police are about to lock up the man responsible for a slew of crimes as of late, Ryan isn't out celebrating. Ryan responds that his friend just died, and he wants answers as to why. Not about to admit to anything, Zach changes the subject and starts talking about how he likes Ryan, but he can't quite figure him out. Ryan tells him that he's actually a simple guy - what you see is what you get. Zach, believing there is more than meets the eye, talks about how Ryan must have a committee in his brain, and everyone's talking at once. The problems arise when everyone is silent. That's when his deepest fears are allowed to reach the surface. He then tells Ryan that he can see that he never learned to bluff. He can read all over Ryan's face that he's dying to know the cards that Zach is holding. The problem, according to Zach, is that Ryan hasn't anted up. And the reason why is that Ryan is holding all face cards - and they are all the faces of people that he knows. Frustrated that he can't get a straight answer, Ryan tries to think of a way to get the answers that he needs. Zach then suggests that when Ryan was shot, perhaps he was not the target. Ryan has no reason to believe Zach's alternative theory - what with his hired gun running around and his handprint on the shovel. Zach agrees that the hit man theory exists and could be valid, and then offers up something else to consider: the attacks on he and his wife could be random, but what are the chances. Ryan, tiring of the verbal runaround and the lessons in probability, demands answers one more time.

Orderlies roll Edmund's body away at the hospital as Maria tearily looks on. Brooke offers to take her home, but Maria tells her that she can't leave until she finds out the truth. She informs Brooke that Zach told her Edmund was able to walk. She also confesses that Zach told her the only reason Edmund got back together with her was so that Zach couldn't have her. Knowing the truth and trying to keep it hidden, Brooke insists that now isn't the time to investigate such things. Brooke feels that Maria needs to take this time for herself, her kids and say her goodbyes to her husband. Maria insists that she can't do any of that with all of the lies and unanswered questions that are floating around her brain. Just then, Manny (Edmund's physical therapist) comes on the scene, telling Maria that he just heard the news and extending his condolences. Maria is thankful, but distracted. She asks Manny if Edmund could walk, and Manny insists that his patient hadn't made that much progress. While Edmund worked very hard on his recovery, he was only at a point where he was getting some sensation and twinges back. Manny goes on to say that if Edmund could walk, he would know about it. He leaves, and Brooke once again offers to take Maria home, now that she has her answer. Once again, Maria declines, saying that she won't let Zach spit on her husband's grave.

Later, back at the station, Maria comes barging in, demanding to know where they are. She Ryan and Zach through the window, and even though Ethan tries to stop her, she bursts into the interrogation room. She demands to see Derek so that she can give her statement - she wants to see Zach locked up so he can rot in hell. She rants and raves that Zach is the one who should be dead, and how she won't let him spew filthy lies about her husband. She is intent on making the charges stick. Derek comes in, asks if she is alright, and then goes off to find an officer to take her statement. Ethan walks Maria back into the hall, leaving only Ryan and Zach in the room again. Ryan admits that he is amazed at Zach's gift for deserting people - the one person that stuck by his side and explained everything away now can't stand him. He goes back to demanding answers from Zach, but Zach retorts that what he really wants is a solution. Zach tells him that what he wants is something that will allow him to wrap up his life neatly so that he can go back to being normal. However, Zach continues, he is unwilling to deprive Ryan of the journey that ended with Zach under arrest. He goes further and says that one day the truth will come out and he can't wait until it hits Ryan over the head. Zach then admits that he blames Ryan for how Ethan is - if he hadn't insisted on the DNA test, Ethan would still be the person that he was: honest and kind. Now, because of Ryan's constant interference, Zach knows that Ryan has caused more damage than ever imagined. Done talking, he rises from his chair and knocks on the two-way glass, asking someone to come in so that he can give his statement.

Derek then comes in to take Zach's statement, but Ethan, Maria and Ryan are still in the room. Derek prefers to proceed in private, but Zach announces that he has already been read his rights, and he has nothing to hide. He then admits to killing Edmund, and being guilty of all the charges lodged against him.

Shortly thereafter, Derek fits handcuffs on to Zach and starts to lead him away. As he starts to walk in front of his son, his ex-lover, and the former head of his namesake corporation - he stops. He asks why they look so down - they are getting the answer that they wanted, that they prayed for. He tells them that it's the answer each and every one of them deserve - and that's he is going to enjoy every minute of it.

David comes home from a jog to find Tad in his cabin, packing his things. Furious, David tells Tad that he needs to get out of his house. Tad doesn't bend so easily, and he informs the doctor that he wants him out of Pine Valley. David tells him that if he is upset about the fact that Krystal is doing time, he needs to have his tantrum elsewhere. Tad tells him that his presence has nothing to do with Krystal, Babe or either of his sons. It has to do with Zach Slater. David, puzzled, says that he has nothing to do with Zach. On the contrary, Tad admits that he blames David for Edmund's death. If he hadn't given Maria the drug that erased her memory, Zach wouldn't have ever come to town. Tad rambles on about how David has either slept with or drugged half the town, not to mention the marriages he has wrecked: Gillian, Dixie...not to mention his own. David takes it all in stride as Tad continues to list David's transgressions: because of him, his poor daughter has lost her son to JR and her mother is doing time in the state pen. Finally, David has had enough and he tells Tad to shut up. He tells Tad that he is simply a windbag that sits on the sidelines and never does anything. He goes on to say that Tad isn't the king of the world - he's not even the head of his freakshow family.

Once again, David tries to get Tad out of his house, but Tad insists on staying a few minutes longer, in hopes of convincing David to leave town for good. It won't happen, according to David, because he has a daughter who loves him and a grandson who needs him - and he won't leave them. Tad thinks David would be doing Babe a favor by leaving, but David won't leave her to go toe-to-toe with the two men Tad helped raise. Tad doesn't understand why David is making a stupid mistake by staying. He follows by saying that he hopes that the earth opens him up and swallows him whole. David muses aloud that divine justice is a fairy tale and that in real life the good guys get the short end of the stick while the bad guys multiply. With that, Tad takes his leave.

Kendall shows up at the Fusion offices and finds Greenlee staring blankly at a piece of paper. She announces that while it has been a horrible day because of Edmund's death, Greenlee should be happy because Zach has been arrested for everything (Edmund's murder, Ryan's shooting and Greenlee's poisoning). If Maria is right, Greenlee and Ryan can rest easy and go back to their happy married life. Greenlee finally speaks up and poses the question - what if Maria is wrong? Kendall is absolutely convinced of Zach's guilt. If it had been anyone other than Maria Grey pointing the finger, she might still have doubts. However, with that and the fact that Ethan was an eyewitness, Kendall believes there is nothing stopping Greenlee from relaxing and being with Ryan. Greenlee doesn't agree, because she still has that evil, dark feeling about Jonathan. Kendall doesn't understand why Greenlee can't just be happy and hold on to the one ray of sunshine she has gotten through this whole mess. Greenlee tells her that even if Maria is right and Zach is responsible, that doesn't mean she is out of the woods with Jonathan. The tone in his voice when he spoke to her last - about the person poisoning her not doing it right the first time - tells her that there is still something wrong with him. Kendall agrees - and says that while Jonathan may still be a woman-hitting freak, he isn't the person who poisoned her, and that is one less thing for her to worry about. Greenlee says that if Jonathan didn't do it, maybe he wishes that he had - and maybe next time he'll get lucky.

Frustrated at Greenlee's seeming unwillingness to lighten up, Kendall demands that Greenlee tell her what else is bothering her. Greenlee acts dismissively but Kendall won't give up. She announces that she can't wait for another one of Greenlee's meltdowns before she finds out what is wrong. Finally, Greenlee caves and admits that the problem is Ryan. Kendall feels that Ryan would be practically doing the dance of joy knowing that the culprit has been arrested. Greenlee, slightly exasperated, tells Kendall that beliefs like that are why she lost Ryan. She goes on to say that Ryan is all about defending his family, the people he loves with everything he has in him. Even when the truth is evident to everyone else, Ryan will stand by a loved one and protect them. They have both seen his reaction when people go against him - i.e. his fury when he found out they had hired a detective. Greenlee says that Ryan's greatest fear, deep down, is that Jonathan really is guilty, but he will never admit it. She can't go against him again for fear of inciting that fury. Having heard enough, Kendall grabs her things and hands Greenlee her coat and purse. She drags her off to find out some answers once and for all.

Kendall and Greenlee show up at David's cabin and find him rustling around in boxes. They bang on the door, and although he tries to ignore them, they announce that they can see him through the window. Exasperated, he goes to the door and quips that if they are selling cookies, he doesn't want any. They barge in uninvited, and he asks what they want. They tell him that they aren't leaving until he hooks them up with one of his new designer drugs. He thinks they are kidding, but Greenlee tells him they want a drug guaranteed to bring on the truth. Kendall thinks that providing the truth serum would be a fraction of the payback for what he did to Bianca. Greenlee follows by saying that either he gives them what they want, or they will start experimenting on their own. David starts to agree but he says that there is a condition. Without hearing what it is, the girls both agree. Surprised at the sudden consensus, David tries to explain the dangers of using an untested drug on people that isn't approved by the FDA. Instead of really hearing what he is saying, they dismiss him with a reminder that he did it to Maria, and a boatload of people with Libidozone. He then asks who the drug is for, and jumping to conclusions he says that if it's for Ryan and if he hurt Greenlee, he'll beat the truth out of him himself. They tell him that it doesn't matter who it's for. The problem is that they have tried to ask the target directly, and they have hired a detective. An answer is always uncovered, and it's always a lie. They need something that will get them an answer that will help a lot of people.

David finally agrees to make the serum, but he needs them to agree to the condition: if their target starts to have any adverse reactions, they have to make sure he gets to the emergency room immediately and have his stomach pumped. They try too late to be shady, and ask how David knows their target is male. David smirks and tells them that women know when other women are lying. It's men they have trouble with. Realizing that what he says is true, they agree to David's terms.

Jonathan is hanging out at the bar at the Valley Inn, and betting money on a trivia question with the bartender. The bartender, although trying to stall for time, seems genuinely stumped. Simone approaches the two men and, having overheard the question, answers it effortlessly and takes the money. She orders a drink, and takes a seat at a nearby table. Jonathan, duly impressed, observes her for a moment, and then takes her drink over to her. Simone, easily dragged in by slightly charming ways, is impressed by his quick compliments of her. He admits that it's not so easy to find someone to talk to these days - most people run away screaming. She invites him to join her. He makes a point of ordering a soda and then continues with his flattery. He tells her that she should be more in charge of things at Fusion, and that she is under appreciated. He recalls the startup days, with guerilla marketing and her edge. He tells her she hasn't lost that edge, and she glows under his flow of words.

A short time later, Simone decides that it is time for her to go - and Jonathan thanks her for spending time with him. He tells her that she is the only one who understands what Maggie meant to him, and she admits that she gets that he loved her. She starts to go and he asks if she would have dinner with him sometime. She ponders this briefly and then agrees. He suggests their date be that evening, and she agrees to that as well.

Brooke shows up at Tempo and walks around Edmund's office, looking at pictures of happier times. She takes a seat at his desk and looks at the last thing he had up on his laptop. Tad comes in, having tracked her down to see how she's doing. She immediately asks him what his stance is on secrets these days. Given all that he has recently lived through, Tad tells her that even though you think you are doing the right thing, trying to protect someone - in the end, it's best to just tell the truth right away. Keeping secrets does more damage than good. Brooke tells him that she has gone through all of that in her mind already and still can't decide on the right thing to do. Tad asks about the specifics of what's going on - and she confesses that before he died, Edmund told her that he had been leading Maria on. He didn't really want to reconcile with her - he was building her up with the plan of making her pay in the end for betraying him. Brooke then says that the man Maria is mourning and the man she last spoke to were two different people. The Edmund they knew was kind and loving, but he was no more - and Maria doesn't have a clue about that truth. Tad thinks that Brooke should go to someone else for advice, but she has made her choice in him. Tad tells her that all he knows is that Edmund was a good man and a good friend - and he can't judge him. Brooke counters and says that it's not about judgment - it's about doing what's right. She asks if he is going to help her - and he tells her that he has an answer for her, but she's not going to like it. He goes on to tell her that she's on her own with regard to the decision. However, what he does know is that whatever decision she does make, he will be right there with her, supporting her all the way. Just then, it hits Brooke again that Edmund is really gone, and Tad moves in to hold and comfort her.

Ryan comes to visit Jonathan in his hotel room and Jonathan gleefully says that he feels great about his last session with Dr. Robins. Ryan tells him that Edmund has been murdered and that he knows who poisoned Greenlee. Ryan says the Zach confessed to killing Edmund, shooting him and poisoning his wife. Jonathan seems thrilled and says that they finally "got their man." Realizing how insensitive he is being, Jonathan apologizes to Ryan and says that he is sorry about his friend's death. Ryan says that he is not sure if Zach is telling the truth, because if he did it, why would he admit it? Also, when he admitted it, there was a look in his eye that seemed as though he was taking more of a shot at them, instead of confessing, Ryan says. Jonathan says that Zach is just trying to get on his nerves and not to worry about it. As Jonathan puts on his tie, Ryan asks him where he is going. When he says is going on a date with Simone, Ryan says, "like hell!" He tells Jonathan that he is not ready to be dating again. Jonathan assures him that he won't hit Simone or drink alcohol at the date, he will be on his best behavior. He gets a call from Simone, asking him to pick her up at Fusion because she is running late. Jonathan agrees and leaves, with Ryan looking very unhappy.

Ryan goes to the bar at Pine Valley Restaurant and runs into David. David, already deep into the booze, begins to taunting him, but Ryan says to leave him alone because he is just a drunk. David ignores him and asks him who is cheating on Greenlee with. Ryan says he is not cheating on her, but David does not seem to trust him. David says that it can't be Kendall because she is Greenlee's "wingman on this." Ryan asks him, "Wingman on what?" David realizes that Ryan is not lying and says, "Then who is the drug for?" Ryan asks him, "What drug?"

At Fusion, Kendall and Greenlee are trying to figure out how to slip the truth drug into Jonathan's drink. Greenlee is worried about the whole plot and says that her marriage is on the line. Kendall agrees, but adds that they need to know who tried to kill Greenlee and frame her. She says that even if Jonathan does not confess, she could lose either way for lying to Ryan. Greenlee says that she knows all that and will not lie to Ryan anymore after this mission is pulled off. Simone comes in and says that she has a date with Jonathan that evening. "Forget it!" Kendall and Greenlee both chant at the same time. Simone tells them that she knows Jonathan is crazy and Kendall asks Greenlee if she told her the truth. Greenlee says that they can trust Simone and Simone assures them that their secret is safe with her. They all agree to let Simone slip the drug in Jonathan's drink. He arrives at Fusion, as Greenlee and Kendall huddle in a closet, and tells Simone that she looks great. Simone thanks him and pulls out a bottle of wine that she slipped away from Kendall. She suggests that they have cocktails there because if Kendall knew she took it, she would be in trouble. Simone goes to pick up two glasses of wine off a counter and hands a glass to Jonathan. He declines the drink and says that he trying to lay off the booze. Disappointed, Simone says that she will have to throw the entire bottle out because she hates to drink alone. Jonathan says that one drink won't hurt him and they start sipping.

Ethan tells her why Zach came over and that Edmund wanted to go alone, as though it was an issue of his pride. Maria blames herself for Edmund's death, saying that she trusted Zach and believed his excuses. She tells Ethan that she does not know why Zach treated his own son so bad, but that she is glad Ethan is nothing like him. Aidan comes over next to see Maria and immediately starts asking Ethan what happened in the barn. Again, Ethan says he saw Zach hit Edmund on the head with a shovel and kill him. Aidan says that if Edmund was going to talk to the hit man, why he or she show up? Perhaps there was no hit man, he says. Myrtle is the next one to visit Zach in a cell. She says that she is not sure if he is telling the truth about being a murder. She says that when she saw him hold Miranda, his eyes did not scream "murderer," but love instead. It was not the face of a man who would leave two kids without a father, Myrtle says.
