Kelly Ripa
Pine Valley Presence
Hayley Vaughan (November 1990 to December 18th, 2002)
At a Glance
Kelly Ripa joined All My Children, in the role of Hayley Vaughan, in November 1990.
Kelly, who sees a little bit of herself in Hayley, had been attending Camden
Community College in New Jersey and had performed in local theater
productions, including "H.M.S. Pinafore," "The Wizard of Oz" and "A
Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court," before coming to the show.
Her entry into acting came suddenly. After performing in her senior high
school play, "The Ugly Duckling," she was approached by her current manager,
Cathy Parker, and encouraged to pursue acting. Kelly, who has one sibling,
is the first in her family to enter the acting profession. She has studied
ballet since age three, plays the piano and, in her words, is "no Barbra
Streisand but can carry a tune."
In the late 1980s, Kelly was a regular on the USA cable network's "Dance Party
USA."
In 2001, Ripa was named permanent co-host to Regis Philbin on Philbin's "Live." Ripa had sat in on numerous occasions as a temporary co-host.
In the summer of 1996, Kelly married her on-screen sweetheart Mark Consuelos (Mateo Santos)
in a very hush-hush wedding. The news of the couple's marriage did not surface for several months after the said their "I Do"s. Then on June 2nd, 1997, Kelly and Mark welcomed their first child---Michael Joseph Consuelos. On Saturday, June 16th, 2001, the couple welcomed their second child, Lola Grace weighing in at 8lbs 3oz.
