Allie came to Pine Valley to seek residence at Pine Valley Hospital. Allie wandered into Dr. Joe Martin's hospital room where he was recovering from a heart attack. Allie began to tell Joe about herself while snacking away on his Jell-O. Dr. Joe Martin took a great liking to Allie and hired her to be part of his staff. While at Pine Valley Hospital she ran into Jake Martin, Joe's late in life son. It was a love-hate relationship between Jake and Allie in the beginning; from fighting over a vacant room at Myrtle Fargate's Boarding House to the great charity race for the children's ward. Eventually, Allie and Jake started feeling love for each other. In November, Allie's ex-lover, David Hayward, started stirring things up between the two lovebirds. David knew Allie's past about falsifying her college transcripts. David held this information over Allie's head in hopes that she would marry him, Allie declined. David told Allie that he would leave her alone. Little did she know that David would go after Jake in hopes of getting him fired! Allie and Jake roped Liza and Stuart into their plan to get David to admit that he'd been the one to give Adam the wrong medication. Liza told David that she wanted Adam dead so that she could be with Jake---and David could then have Allie. David refused to kill Adam, but on secret videotape he confessed that he'd been the one to give Adam the wrong medicine. Jake and Allie's relationship soured when Allie came clean about her forged medical transcripts. She felt that David would out her secret and she tired of having the noose around her neck. Her admission resulted in the revocation of her license to practice medicine. That didn't stop her from practicing medicine in emergency situations, like the explosion at Holidays. In fact, she saved Palmer's eyesight. With the promise of restoring her license to practice, Adam roped Allie into a plan to get Liza pregnant. He purchased the fertility clinic where Liza was to be artificially inseminated with Jake's sperm. With Allie's help, Adam swapped his sperm for Jake's. Jake grew closer and closer to Liza---and that worried Allie. Allie concocted a plan to become pregnant so that Jake would seemingly be "tied" to her instead of the baby he'd created with Liza. She swore that she was using protection, but after an intimate encounter, Jake found Allie's diaphragm in the medicine cabinet. From there, Allie's life spun out of control. She took on Adam and threatened to expose what he'd done at the clinic. Adam bought her silence and literally shipped her off to the Caribbean where she would be able to practice medicine.
