As previously announced, three-time Emmy winner
Sarah Brown (Julia Larrabee) will be leaving CBS's As the World Turns.
Fans and insiders were both surprised when Brown, who had previously downplayed talk of returning to daytime television, signed on for a short-term gig with As the World Turns. Brown had previously played the wildly popular character of
Carly Corinthos on ABC's
General Hospital from 1996 to 2001. The role earned her
Daytime Emmys in 1997, 1998 and 1999.
Brown's stay in Oakdale was only ever intended to last six months, but show execs were supposedly so thrilled with Brown's work on the show that they tried to approach the actress about sticking around longer than the initially agreed upon term.
While show brass may have been pleased with Brown's work, some fans were furious that Brown's on-screen alter ego was a "bad girl." Some fans reportedly flooded the actress with mail warning her to stay away from Jack, the on-screen
fictional object of Brown's character's affection.
With Brown leaving As the World Turns, rumors have sprouted that she might head back to the West Coast to reprise her General Hospital role. The rumors have swelled now that
Tamara Braun, the actress who succeeded Brown in the GH role, has
announced that she will be leaving the show.
Brown made her final As the World Turns appearance on March 2nd.
