At a Glance

Eileen, who has played the colorful Lisa for almost 40 years, was born Margaret McLarty. She is the daughter of the late Rev. McLarty (a Methodist minister) and descends from a long line of clergymen.

Eileen majored in music and minored in dramatics at Greensboro College in North Carolina and made her professional debut in The Lost Colony, an annual presentation at Manteo, NC. In 1956, Eileen moved to New York and studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater.

Eileen appeared in Broadway's matinee viewing of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and the off-Broadway musical The Fantasticks simultaneously (while she was working on ATWT). In addition to her many theater credits, Eileen was also the lead in the film, Girl of the Night. Eileen brought the character of Lisa to primetime in 1965 in the primetime serial Our Private World.

Eileen is a talented cabaret singer and has sung in many top nightclubs around the country and starred in several one-woman shows. She is also a prolific writer and has co-authored two autobiographies, "How My World Turns" and "As My World Still Turns." She has also written six murder mysterious: "Take One for Murder", "Death of a Golden Girl", "Dying for Stardom", Lights! Camera! Death!", "A Setting for Murder", and "Fatal Flashback", as well as the romance novel "Soap Opera."

Eileen is an active supporter of many charities such as UNICEF, March of Dimes, Cerebal Palsy, Lupus Foundation, and Martha's Table, which benefits poor and homeless mothers and children. She has established a musical scholarship in her father's name at Brevarad College in North Carolina, and a Fine Arts Scholarship in her & her mother's names at their alma mater, Greensboro. Eileen is also a women's right's advocate.

Eileen currently resides in Manhattan.
