Today's The Bold and the Beautiful featured an unexpected surprise to tie in with Brooke's (Katherine Kelly Lang) wedding day: the show's retired veteran actress Susan Flannery made a special return as Stephanie Forrester.
We use the term "special" not just because it was exciting to have her back on the canvas but also because Flannery didn't actually appear in the flesh. Rather, she returned via voice with a message for Brooke as she prepared to walk down the aisle with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye).
For fans wondering if Flannery's return for today's B&B means she's willing to reprise the role on a more permanent basis, we'd say don't hold your breath. Just last year, she reminded soap audiences that she was "very happy" with her decision to retire in 2012 and has no regrets. "There comes a point where you just know it's time to get off the stage," she declared.
That being said, Flannery hasn't washed her hands of the entertainment business altogether. She's been keeping herself busy behind the camera as director for shows like The Fosters (which stars One Life to Live alum Sherri Saum [ex-Keri Reynolds]) and the digital drama Venice.
What do you think about Flannery's audio return to B&B? Would you like to see more tricks like that to keep the spirit of Stephanie alive? We want to hear from you -- and there are many ways you can share your thoughts.
