Rick asks Stephanie why she always sticks up for Amber. Stephanie says she hasn't always trusted her but then she saw something in that gutsy girl, not to mention Amber saved Stephanie's life after Sheila attacked her. Rick realizes he fell in love with Amber when he learned Amber would do anything for those she loved, including giving Rick a kidney.

Amber holds her baby and says he is so beautiful and looks just like his daddy. Amber wishes Rick were here so he could kiss and hold his baby. Little Eric fought so hard to be here but he just wasn't strong enough. Amber promises to always love her precious little boy. Tawny tries to comfort her daughter but Amber blames herself thinking she didn't deserve him. Tawny urges her daughter to let go of Eric. He is in heaven now and he knows how much his mother loved him.

Stephanie most appreciates Amber's loyalty to her family. When Rick was getting married, he wasn't sure Amber was the right person for him. Now Rick realizes his son will be lucky to have a mother like Amber because she will love him with everything she's got. Stephanie thinks Brooke will come around but Rick has to be clear with her about his intentions regarding Amber. Amber will be home tomorrow and soon Rick will become a father. Rick can not wait to hold his son.

Amber hands her dead baby over to Tawny. Sarah gets a page from Amber's Aunt Tilley saying cousin Becky is in labor. Sarah leaves to tend to Becky and when she comes back, she will take Eric to the coroner. Tawny wants to call Rick so he can see his son before he is buried. Amber thinks Rick will blame her for losing their baby. Tawny consoles a devastated Amber.

Tawny suggests she take Amber home, but Amber refuses. I can't go home because they will know what I did, Amber says. Amber is sure Rick and his family will not forgive her for driving out to the desert and having the baby with no doctors around. Tawny tries to get Amber to stop blaming herself and says this is not the end of her marriage. Tawny met Rick and knows that he loves Amber. But Rick only married me for the baby, Amber says. Tawny doesn't think Rick will go back on his word, and she is not going to let the best thing that's ever happened to her daughter be thrown away.

Stephanie blasts Brooke for her wild accusation that Amber's baby could be Raymond's. Brooke counters by saying she is trying to protect her son because his marriage is based on deception and Amber continues to lie. You are driving a wedge in that marriage, Stephanie says, and if it falls apart, Stephanie will blame Brooke. Considering the fact that Amber fought so hard for Rick, it is ridiculous to think that baby could be Raymond's, Stephanie says. Brooke doesn't trust Amber and is determined to find out her secret. Don't make Rick chose between his son and his mother, Stephanie warns. C.J. thinks Amber must have had the baby by now and if it is Rick's, Amber would have called. C.J. drops by Rick's and suggest he call Amber. Rick isn't too concerned about calling since his wife will be home later today. Rick calls and Tawny and Amber let the machine pick up. Rick leaves a message saying he hopes Amber is taking care of that baby inside her and hopes she is coming back today. Rick tells C.J. he and Amber are making this marriage work, but C.J. asks if there were no baby, would there be a marriage. Rick reminds C.J. he is only seventeen. No baby, no marriage, he says.

Amber isn't sure how to tell Rick their baby died because he loved the baby as much as she did and gave up so much for this baby. Tawny has Amber lie down on her bed and calls Sarah. Sarah apologizes for not getting back to Tawny and Amber sooner, but Becky had a hard labor. Sarah says she will come back to Tawny's after she swings by social services. Becky does not want her baby and will not even feed the baby. Later, Sarah brings Becky's newborn son along with her to Tawny's. Amber is in mourning for her baby and her marriage, Tawny says, because Amber feels Rick's family will pressure him into leaving the marriage when they find out the baby died. Amber was so close to having everything Tawny wanted for her and it's not fair her baby had to die. Amber's dreams died along with that baby. Tawny picks up Amber's baby and gives him to Sarah who plans on taking him to the coroner. Tawny looks at Becky's son and says it's not fair this baby was born to a mother who did not want him, while Amber's son was born with everything he could need. Where's the justice in that? Then, Tawny gets an idea...

Wednesday, April 28, 1999

Tawny stops Sarah from taking Becky's baby to Social Services. That baby is staying right her in the family and will be raised by Amber and her husband, Tawny says. Sarah reminds Tawny that this baby is Becky's and she wants the baby to be put up for adoption. Tawny knows if that baby is taken away, he will end up in an institution, while Amber and Rick could give the child a wonderful future. Tawny has made up her mind. Becky's baby will be raised by Rick and Amber. Say hello to Eric Forrester III.

Stephanie says Brooke's suspicions don't prove anything and although Amber may be impulsive, that doesn't mean she's lying about her pregnancy. Brooke asks Stephanie how she would explain Sally standing up during the wedding. If Stephanie had swallowed her pride long enough to hear what Sally had to say, they might know what Amber's hiding. When Brooke finds out what Amber is hiding, she is finished with her son.

Rick visits Kimberly and says there is still no word on Amber although he expects her back any day now. By the end of the week, Rick should be a father. Rick admits he is bugged by his mother's suspicion's that Raymond might be the father. Rick informs Kimberly of Raymond trying to tell him something at Insomnia before Amber interrupted. If there is even the slightest hope this baby is not Rick's, does he know what that means for Rick and Kimberly?

Rick made a commitment to Amber and his marriage and you need to honor that, Stephanie says. Brooke thinks Stephanie is using Amber, Rick, and the baby as weapons, but Stephanie says she would not support their marriage if she didn't think it could work. They don't have a chance in hell, Brooke says. Amber went to the desert to have her baby because she was too scared to have it here. Stephanie suggests Brooke call Amber at her mother's and she will learn that Amber is probably on her way home and has not delivered the baby yet.

Amber has a nightmare about returning to LA and breaking the news that their baby died to Rick and his family. In Amber's dream, she comes clean about not being sure who the baby's father was, but says the baby was Rick's but he was stillborn. What Tawny is suggesting, Sarah doesn't think it's right. Is it right to send this baby to an orphanage? Tawny asks Sarah to go along with her idea. Amber's marriage and future depend on it. Rick has the means to give this baby a wonderful life. Sarah says Tawny is assuming Rick and Amber will go along with it. Amber will, Tawny says, but Rick will never know. That is the only thing that makes sense because Rick only married Amber because of the baby and if you take the baby out of the equation, that marriage will be over. Tawny asks Sarah not to take Amber's chance at happiness away. Plus, Rick loves her and wants a child, Tawny says. Sarah wonders what Rick's high-roller mother will do if she discovered the truth. She won't, Tawny assures Sarah. Brooke calls and leaves a message that she wants to talk to Amber. This baby is the only thing that can save Amber's marriage. Amber awakens, notices Becky's baby, and screams to take the baby away.

Thursday, April 29, 1999

Amber is hysterical when she sees Becky's baby. Sarah explains that she brought him here and is on her way to Social Services after she picks up Amber's baby remains. Amber wants to call Rick and tell him what happened but Tawny says Rick will never have to know. Amber asks how her cousin could give such a beautiful baby away while hers had to die. It's just not fair. Amber picks up Becky's baby and feels better when she holds him. Tawny advises Amber to hold onto the baby and forget about her own. Amber blasts her mother for wanting her to forget her own son. Tawny stops Sarah from leaving with the baby. Becky's baby is our flesh and blood and Tawny does not want to see him adopted. There is a way Tawny can stop Amber's hurting and help this baby out at the same time.

Kimberly realizes Raymond having anything to do with Amber's baby is a long shot, but as long as there is a glimmer of hope, Kimberly is not giving up. Kimberly has to know if there is any truth to Raymond being the father. Rick is sure the baby inside Amber is his, but Kimberly wants Rick to indulge her and if that baby inside Amber is Rick, they will deal with it. Rick admits it would be unbelievable if somehow Amber's baby were not his, but he can't let himself think like that.

Amber is sure once she tells Rick that their baby died, their marriage is over, but Tawny will not let her daughter lose her marriage because of this. Amber has got to hang onto Rick, Tawny says. There is nothing I can do about it, Amber says. Tawny tells Amber that Becky's baby is staying with them. Sarah reminds Tawny that she hasn't agreed to this, while Tawny asks Amber what would have happened if the baby had not died. Amber concludes that she and Rick would have had a happy marriage raising their son together. It is unfair for you to lose Rick over this, Tawny says, and it is not fair that Becky's baby has to be adopted. That baby is part of out family, and there is no reason why Amber can't bring him home to her husband. Amber says she could never keep something like that a secret, but Tawny reminds her only she and Sarah know. Amber has to bring home the son Rick wanted and this baby is Eric Forrester III.

Friday, April 30, 1999

Amber can't go back to LA with Becky's baby, but Tawny wants Amber to start thinking of Becky's baby as her baby. Tawny notes how happy the baby is in Amber's arms and says that Becky is not ready to have a baby, but Amber is, and this baby fits the bill. Tawny and Amber take Little Eric to the desert to be buried. Amber places a picture of Rick inside the grave. Amber sings "Amazing Grace" and tearfully says goodbye.

Jack and Ashley Abbott have been trying to get a hold of Brooke but she is waiting for Victor to return her calls before talking to Jack or Ashley. Meanwhile, Brooke calls over to the guesthouse and gets Rick and Amber's machine which Brooke takes as Amber is not back yet. Brooke tells Ridge that she may have proof that Amber's baby is not Rick's. Amber went to her mother's to have her baby and Brooke has a feeling that Amber already had the baby. That's why she went to the desert was to have the baby away from Rick and his family. If Amber comes back to LA and is still pregnant, Brooke will eat her words, but there is no way Amber will come back to LA and have her baby.

Tawny and Amber return home and Sarah hands Tawny the birth certificate for Becky's baby. Sarah notes that she has strong reservations about this, but Tawny and Sarah talked about it, and they both feel this maybe the best thing for Amber and the baby. Amber reminds Sarah that her baby is dead. Yes, but you have been given another chance, Tawny says. Becky did not want her baby and he could bring so much happiness to Amber and Rick. Amber's marriage will be over if she returns to LA without a baby. Amber can't bring herself to sign the birth certificate. This baby needs a family and you need a child, Tawny says. The only way Amber would go along with this is if Rick told her he loved her. Otherwise, if Rick only married her for the baby, maybe it's best if their marriage did fall apart. Don't sell yourself short, Tawny advises. Rick calls and asks Amber why she is still there. Amber admits she had the baby at her mother's trailer. Rick thinks the baby is fine and asks how Amber is doing. Rick is worried about Amber and says he is so proud of her for having the baby without any doctors around. Rick tells Amber he loves her and asks how his son is doing. Amber hesitates, looks at the baby sleeping on her mother's bed and says he is beautiful. Rick tells Amber to have her mom drive her back while he spreads the good news to his family.
