Thorne Forrester is the second son of Stephanie and Eric, owners of Forrester Creations. Never exhibiting the design talents of older brother Ridge, he was more the nuts and bolts part of the industry. Throughout the years he constantly strove to gain the attention and admiration of his mother and father.

Thorne's romantic involvement was first with Caroline, his brother's fiancée. When Ridge and Caroline's wedding was canceled, due to an infidelity on Ridge's part, Thorne comforted Caroline after she was raped. Thorne conspired with Brooke Logan to keep Ridge and Caroline from reuniting, and Thorne married Caroline. Wedded bliss didn't last long; one evening, after having too much to drink, Caroline went to her room, alone. Ridge sneaked up to her room and climbed into her bed nude. Thinking it was Thorne in her alcohol induced haze, Ridge and Caroline slept together.

When Caroline realized it had not been her husband in bed with her, she developed a complex, and could not make love with Thorne. She told Stephanie who told her to never reveal it to Thorne, as he would go crazy and kill Ridge. While Caroline was out of town, Thorne had an appendectomy, and while recovering, heard Stephanie and Eric discussing Ridge's indiscretion. He became enraged and under the influence of alcohol and the pain pills, he shot Ridge in the back of the head using Stephanie's gun. Stephanie covered for him and told the police she had shot Ridge thinking he was a burglar. Neither Thorne nor Ridge recalled the incident.

Caroline realized she had always loved Ridge, and with his help, she hired a psychologist to help break the news to Thorne that she wanted a divorce. Thorne confided to the therapist that he had developed an interest in someone else - Donna Logan. Later at a fashion show on the Queen Mary, Thorne met one of the "loves of his life" Macy Alexander.

Thorne was drugged and given a gun by a con artist and old enemy of Stephanie, Angela, masquerading as Deveney who told him that Ridge had slept with Caroline. Stephanie found Thorne waving a gun at Ridge and she told Thorne that he was the one who shot his brother. Though Thorne felt guilty and threw the gun away, he refused to forgive Ridge for breaking up his marriage.

After Thorne's break up with Caroline he dated both Donna and Macy. He didn't know that Macy was the daughter of his mother's arch rival, Sally Spectra. He grew closer to Macy and proposed. When Stephanie discovered who Macy was, she insisted the relationship break off and Thorne complied. Later, realizing he truly loved Macy, Thorne married her; his family relented and attended the wedding.

Once again happiness wasn't in the future for Thorne; Macy began an affair with Jake, a tennis instructor. Felicia, Thorne's sister, was also seeing the man romantically. In a rivalry between Felicia and Macy, Felicia threatened to tell Thorne about the affair unless Macy gave up the affair. Macy became depressed and started drinking heavily; meanwhile Felicia told her brother about the affair and Thorne went to the man's home and beat him up.

Jake continued to be a problem in Macy and Thorne's marriage. There was some question of corporate theft of the Belief formula and everyone thought Macy was behind it. Macy moved into Jakes home purely on a friendship basis.

During this story, a look-alike to Caroline was found in Texas - Karen, Caroline's long lost twin. She was brought back to LA in a ruse to break up Taylor and Ridge. This failed, however, Thorne met Karen and fell in love with her, just as Macy was about to ask for a reconciliation. In a bizarre twist, the three ended up living together. Thorne eventually decided he loved Macy, but before he told her, he saw her in a friendly hug with Jake, so he told Karen he wanted to be with her.

Karen realized the Thorne chose her because he believed Macy wasn't available. There were several attempts at communication between Thorne and Macy during this time, but Karen and her father, managed to keep them apart. Finally, Karen told Thorne that it was over because he was still in love with Macy. Macy took a job singing but continued to drink so heavily people feared for her life. One night after she passed out in an alley, Thorne found her and took her home. They reunited shortly after this. The Forrester's threw a party to celebrate Macy's sobriety, but on the way there, her drink was spiked by Sheila. After the Spectra's interfered with yet another Forrester fashion show and Macy's family refused to fire the designer responsible, Thorne once again broke up with Macy.

After Thorne returned to L.A. for Taylor's funeral, he and Macy began seeing each other and singing together at various functions. They were eventually offered a record deal, and went to Rotterdam to sing. Macy discovered she had throat cancer and returned home to have surgery.

After she recovered, Thorne proposed and Macy accepted. However, a jealous ex named Ivana, a model for Forrester, wanted Thorne; and Anthony, a long time lover of Macy's, determined also to break them up. As the quadrangle heated up, it escalated to violence when Anthony, using a stolen letter opener from Thorne's office, murdered Ivana. As Macy and Thorne were exchanging wedding vows, the police arrived and arrested Thorne for Ivana's murder.

While Thorne was in jail, Macy felt sorry for Anthony who was pretending to be suicidal and depressed over Ivana's death. He convinced Macy to go to Mexico with him so they could concentrate on the case together. Thorne escaped and from prison and rushed to Mexico to confront Anthony for setting him up and killing Ivana. Thorne was recaptured and sent back to jail, so Macy tried to set up Anthony to confess using a tape machine. Anthony was on to her and pulled a gun, shooting Sally when she tried to intervene. The police saved Sally and Macy at the last moment, Anthony was arrested, and Thorne was released. Macy and Thorne were remarried at the Bikini Bar.

Thorne won a part in the Broadway production of Grease, and left Los Angeles. He returned four months later and he and Macy were reunited. Then Thorne became involved with Claudia Cortez, a young woman who fled her country for political asylum. Thorne also developed feelings for Taylor. At this same time as he was supportive of her during a Ridge/Taylor breakup. Taylor and Thorne started spending time together and exchanged hugs and kisses. Macy became tired of his divided attention and suspected he was having an affair with Claudia, although he was not. Macy demanded a divorce.

Stephanie tried to get Claudia to pursue Thorne to keep him away from Taylor. Thorne and Claudia attempted to make love, but she backed off when she realized Thorne was deeply in love with Taylor. Thorne saved Taylor's life when she became intoxicated after she was stood up by Ridge for a picnic.

Thorne continued to be drawn to Taylor, even though Ridge and Stephanie told him to back off. Ridge went to jail for supposedly shooting Grant, and Thorne immediately moved into the guest room at the beach house to comfort Taylor. Taylor was deeply depressed and drinking a great deal, James warned her she was addicted to alcohol and Ridge and that she needed to break the addiction to both. Thorne convinced Taylor to go to Hawaii where he proposed. She wore his ring but didn't give him an answer. They returned after a week to discover that Ridge had been released from prison. Ridge immediately assumed the relationship would resume, but Thorne had other plans. Taylor was pregnant with Ridge's child, but allowed everyone to think it was Thorne's. Brooke decided Ridge was now fair game. A darker side of Thorne's personality came out in this storyline. Obsessed with keeping Taylor from telling Ridge the truth about the baby, Thorn drugged her, removed the phone from the bedroom, and kept her a prisoner and incommunicado while hoping Ridge and Brooke would reconnect and marry before Taylor told him the truth.

After much manipulation and planning, Taylor and Thorne rushed to stop Ridge and Brooke's wedding, Taylor was determined to tell Ridge that she carried his child but she went into labor and Thorne delivered the baby boy in the car. Still having not told Ridge about Thomas' paternity, Taylor took the baby and went to see her father. When Stephanie found out Ridge was the baby's father, she berated Thorne for keeping it secret from his brother. When Taylor returned determined to be with Ridge, Thorne gave up on the relationship and called Macy to cry on her shoulder.

Thorne had a session with James who told him that his bad experiences with Caroline, Taylor, and his mother have left him feeling unworthy and that he needed to find someone to love him for himself. He tried to rekindle feelings for Macy, but when he went to her, it was on her wedding day to Grant.

Thorne took a break from his family and the Forrester business after a disagreement with Stephanie. He moved to a beach house right next door to Macy and Grant. Thorne started hanging around a lot, and Grant told Macy NOT to let him in the house. When Darla came to see Macy's new house, she was shocked to see that Thorne lived next door. She pulled a prank on him and they flirted making Macy jealous. Meanwhile the feud between Ridge and Thorne subsided and Thorne was the best man at Ridge and Taylor's wedding.

Grant was diagnosed with terminal cancer and he asked Thorne to help Macy and try to give her the family she always wanted. After Grant died, Thorne tried to keep his promise to Grant and got closer to Macy. He bought an engagement ring for her, but she didn't accept it, and he was crushed. Brooke tried to console Thorne and they commiserated with each other about being crushed by former loves. After a swim in the ocean, Thorne hugged Brooke and kissed her. Brooke and Thorne considered having a relationship, but Macy told Thorne she had talked to her family and wanted to be his wife. He pulled out the ring again and proposed as Brooke overheard.

Brooke and Thorne fell in love, and, because of a bad business deal, Macy and Thorne fell apart. When Stephanie found Thorne and Brooke together, she tried to kill Brooke twice. Thorne drugged Stephanie with sleeping pills. Later, when Stephanie realized she could not separate the two, Stephanie had a stroke. Meanwhile, Brooke sought Taylor's advice and Taylor told everyone that Brooke and Thorne were adults and should be left alone.

Eric came up with a plan to break up Thorne and Brooke while they were in Venice. He convinced Ridge and Taylor that if they could prove Brooke still had feelings for Ridge that Thorne will break it off. In Venice, Thorne and Brooke made love, he proposed, and she said, "Yes". Taylor and Ridge were next door arguing loudly. Afterward, Ridge told Brooke that he and Taylor had broken up, and Thorne witnessed Ridge kissing Brooke. Convinced that Brooke still loved Ridge, Thorne left devastated. Ridge and Taylor told Brooke that it was all a ruse and that Thorne had left. They returned home convinced that they had done the right thing because Brooke would eventually have brought heartache to Thorne and the relationship would have killed Stephanie.

Back in L.A. Thorne ordered Brooke out when she told him that what he had seen was a set-up planned by Taylor and Ridge to split them up. Brooke told Thorne that he saw one kiss, but he didn't see her telling Ridge to leave her alone because she was in love with Thorne. Thorne was shocked when he learned that this was Eric's plan. Brooke didn't know that Macy was in Venice and that Macy and Thorne went to Amsterdam and got married after he left. Later Thorne confronted Taylor and Ridge and told them they ruined his life causing him to marry the wrong woman while he still loved Brooke. He said he couldn't leave Macy because when they married Macy made him promise to never hurt her again.

Unfortunately Macy began drinking heavily again. Thorne and Brooke reaffirmed their love for each other and their desire to be together. Thorne was eventually convinced by Macy's counselor to tell her the truth, that the marriage was a mistake. Thorne asked for a divorce. Macy tore up the divorce papers but Thorne got another one. Thorne and Macy met at Big Bear for one last dinner and discussion, and Macy agreed to the divorce. In spite of Thorne telling her not to, Brooke arrived after Thorne had left to gives the papers to Macy. Enraged, Macy ran to Brooke's car with Brooke right behind her. Macy drove Brooke down the mountain side, speeding, driving erratically, and yelling at Brooke. After an accident with a gasoline tanker, Thorne showed up and pulled Brooke free, Kimberly, Macy's sister, also showed up. Macy was trapped in the vehicle when the truck exploded -- SUPPOSEDLY killing Macy and the truck driver. At Macy's funeral, Stephanie found out about Brooke and Thorne, Sally threatened murder and mayhem, and Kimberly dressed in a creepy outfit and attacked Brooke. Thorne took Brooke out of L.A. for a while. Stephanie, Eric and the family met with Thorne and Stephanie told Thorne that if he didn't give up Brooke, he was no longer her son.

Kimberly started obsessing about Thorne, fantasizing that they were in love. Thorne kissed her, but continued his pursuit to marry Brooke. Rick and Bridget told Brooke if she married Thorne, she would lose both of them. Brooke made the decision that her children came first and broke off the relationship in spite of her feelings.

Kimberly found a drunken Thorne in his beach house. He hallucinated that Kimberly was Brooke and they danced and Kimberly took him into the bedroom. Next morning, Thorne awoke to find Kimberly in the kitchen. Confused, Thorne assumed they had had sex. Kimberly continued to let Thorne believe this, and continued to be in love with him although Thorne told her there was no relationship. After an accident in the studio, Thorne rushed to Brooke's side. Brooke told him she was fine and he couldn't take her home because Bridgett would be hurt. Bridgett, eavesdropping at the door, realized how much Brooke and Thorne loved each other. She told Kimberly that she wouldn't stand in their way, and Kimberly begged Bridget not to tell Thorne that they hadn't really slept together. But Bridget felt guilty for lying to her mom through omission, and Brooke and Thorne were reunited. Brooke asked Thorne to marry her and he said yes. After much pleading by Brooke for Stephanie to attend, and by Thorne for Ridge to be the best man, they both refused. But at the last minute they showed up at the church and Brooke and Thorne finally married.

Thorne was in the back ground rarely seen for a while, playing the role of a happy husband with Brooke.

Bridget married Deacon, but Brooke felt he didn't love Bridget because of Amber. While Brooke had a talk with Deacon about "soul mates", Stephanie berated Thorne about Brooke's deviousness. Stephanie told Thorne that Brooke would always love Ridge. Thorne yelled at his mother that she was a troublemaker and left. Meanwhile Brooke was telling Deacon all about her own "soul mate," Ridge, and that one never gets over that deep kind of love. Thorne was eavesdropping in the hall and heard the whole thing. Livid, he went to Big Bear where he and Brooke were supposed to spend a romantic evening. Thorne had a fit, throwing pictures and talking to Megan about how Brooke lied to him about loving him, and then she told Deacon that she would always love Ridge. When Brooke showed up he questioned her about what he heard, and she explains that she would have said ANYTHING to keep Deacon away from Bridgett. But Thorne told her he was tired of being second fiddle to Ridge and said that their marriage was over. Ridge advised Brooke to make up with Thorne, and she tried, but he rebuffed her efforts. Stephanie told Brooke she should leave town since there were no other Forrester men who wanted her.

Thorne took flowers to Macy's grave where he cried and told Macy he should have listened to her, that Brooke would never love him like she did Ridge. Macy "appeared" at the grave and Thorne said he wanted them back together, but then he woke up and realized he was dreaming about Macy.

Brooke signed the annulment papers. After Taylor's death, Thorne met the grief counselor, Tricia Quick, whom Taylor had arranged to counsel her family after she died. After a brief flare of emotions between Thorne and Tricia, they shared a kiss, but it never went further. A big Forrester fashion show was planned for Portofino, Italy, involving the whole Forrester clan.

Adam, Macy's father, decided to tell Sally that Macy was alive. He took Macy to Sally's hotel room where she is reunited with Sally and Darla. Thorne went into a small cafe and thought he heard Macy singing. Macy saw Thorne and quickly left before Thorne could see her. She followed Thorne, and after walking through some alleyways, they finally confronted each other. Thorne went to Sally's and begged Macy and Sally to give him another chance; he said he never stopped loving Macy. Sally was skeptical, and Adam and Lorenzo (who was in love with Macy), both said Macy could not return to L.A. because of the dangerous men who were searching for Adam.

Macy, Adam, and Lorenzo disappeared in Italy and Sally and Thorne returned to L.A. Later Macy married Lorenzo in Portugal, and they arrived in L.A. after Sally had a heart attack. Thorne was floored to find out that Macy and Lorenzo were married, and pursued Macy. He even got Darla, Macy's long time friend, to help him. He asked Darla to talk to Macy and plead his case, but Macy asked Darla to keep an eye on Thorne to make sure he was sincere in his proposal. Finally Macy told Lorenzo that their marriage wasn't valid because she was still married to Thorne. Lorenzo pleaded for her to divorce Thorne so they could be married again, but she refused, and Lorenzo returned to Italy.

During a drunken one night stand, when Darla visited Thorne, he thought she was Macy and made love to her. Darla had always had a crush on Thorne. Darla became pregnant, but kept it from Thorne and Macy who by then had reconciled. Macy became ill and surgery revealed cancer; so she had a hysterectomy. Darla agreed to allow Thorne and Macy to raise her baby if Thorne told Macy the truth. When Macy heard that Darla's baby was Thorne's, she was devastated and gave Thorne annulment papers. Macy later ran into Deacon at an AA meeting and they began a relationship.

On New Year's Eve, 2003, Darla gave birth to Thorne's daughter and named her Alexandria. In April of 2004, Thorne proposed to Darla and she accepted. After a big family fight with the Forresters, Thorne became the head of Spectra Fashions. After a runway face off with Ridge and Thomas, Thorne lost all of his investment money. He later returned to Forrester to work. Sally became sick, and Thorne and Darla took her home to live with them.

On the night of Alexandria's fifth birthday, Darla went to assist Phoebe whose car had broken down on Pacific Coast Highway. While trying to change a tire, Darla wrestled with a stuck lug nut and fell into the road. She was hit and killed by a vehicle driven by Taylor who, although she had been drinking, had been coming to help Phoebe. Taylor panicked and didn't tell anyone that she had hit and killed Darla. Taylor was assisted in her lies by Hector, who was a fireman, and her daughter Phoebe.

After Darla's death, Taylor stepped in to assist Thorne in counseling Alexandria. A close bond formed between Taylor and Thorne. Thorne also helped Taylor by going to AA meetings with her.

After months of hiding the truth, events came to a head. Taylor and Thorne went to Big Bear where Thorne was going to propose, and Taylor confessed that she was the one who had killed Darla. The police came to Big Bear and arrested Taylor. Thorne made several statements to Taylor about how she had betrayed him in the worst way, but later he pleaded for the Judge to not find her guilty. Taylor was released, and Thorne realized that he still loved her. Thorne moved in to Taylor's house and they continued to discuss marriage. But Alexandria when found out that Taylor was the person who killed her mother, she began to act out. As wedding plans went forward, Alexandria became worse, damaging Taylor's pictures, and finally taking a scissors and destroying Taylor's wedding dress. At this point, Taylor and Thorne decided to call off the wedding until Alexandria was better equipped to understand.

In August, 2007, Thorne developed alcohol and drug problems as a result of the depression over losing Darla. While out at a bar one night drinking, taking pills, and fantasizing that Darla was there, Donna Logan found him out of control and staggering. After a brief conversation, Donna decided to try to get him home. Once they reached Thorne's home, Donna saw Stephanie's photograph, and, remembering all the terrible things Stephanie had done to her sister Brooke, she formed a plan to get close to Thorne as payback. Donna led Thorne to believe that they had slept together, and using sex, Donna enraptured Thorne. After a whirlwind romance, Thorne proposed to Donna. When Thorne announced to his family that he was going to marry Donna, Stephanie swore to stop the wedding and the rest of the family was stunned. Donna's sister Katie came to town for the wedding, and after talking to Donna, she realized that Donna didn't truly love Thorne. Donna told Katie that she would be a good wife for Thorne, but Katie decided that wasn't enough. So just before the wedding, Katie went to Thorne and told him the truth. Thorne left Donna standing at the altar and canceled the wedding.

Soon afterward, Thorne learned that Donna and Eric were having an affair, and he got angry. Thorne assisted Felicia in keeping Donna from being presented as Eric's inspiration at a fashion show by locking her in the steam room. When Eric was in a coma, Donna fired Thorne, Felicia, and Ridge from Forrester Creations.
