January 2004 Original Cast Member Clarke Retires John Clarke (Mickey Horton), one of two original Days of our Lives cast members remaining on the show, has announced that he will exit the soap.

January 2004 DAYS' killer revealed: It's Marlena! It was supposed to be a carefully guarded secret. The identity of Days of our Lives serial killer was to be revealed for the first time on Wednesday, January 28th. But well over a week before the actual on-air reveal, several popular soap opera magazines featured front page stories declaring that Marlena was, in fact, the "Salem Stalker."

February 2004 Zuker signs new contract with DAYS As previously reported by soapcentral.com in December, Arianne Zuker (Nicole Walker) is not leaving Days of our Lives. Now comes word that the actress has inked a new two-year contract with the show.

February 2004 GH vet to take over role of Mickey Daytime veteran John Ingle (Edward Quartermaine, General Hospital) will take over the role of Mickey Horton on Days of our Lives beginning later this month.

February 2004 Former DAYS star rakes on role of GH's Edward With the sudden and unexpected departure of John Ingle (Edward Quartermaine; now Mickey Horton, DAYS) from General Hospital, the show's casting department has hurriedly cast veteran DAYS performer Jed Allan as the new patriarch of the Quartermaine family.

March 2004 DAYS fans have some killer ideas Whether you love it or hate it, there's no denying that Days of our Lives' serial killer storyline has got people talking... a lot of people talking. Since the big reveal that Marlena is the serial killer, it seems that you can't turn on the television or read a magazine without seeing some sort of mention of the sensational plot.

March 2004 DAYS could lose two popular young stars It looks like Days of our Lives could be losing two more popular stars - but these exits won't be at the hands of the Salem Stalker. Jason Cook (Shawn Douglas Brady) will exit the NBC this spring - but it's unclear if he will return - and co-star Kirsten Storms (Belle Black) could exit as early as this summer.

Now, things have taken a surprising turn and it's looking more and more like neither one of those performers will be leaving the show any time soon.

May 2004 Richard Biggs dead at age 44 Former Days of our Lives and Guiding Light cast member Richard T. Biggs has died. The cause of his death is currently under investigation. He was 44.

July 2004 DAYS rings in a New Belle After what was said to have been an extensive search, Charity Rahmer has made her debut as Days of our Lives' new Belle Black.

August 2004 Julie Pinson is DAYS' new Billie Reed It's been over two years since rumors first hinted that Julie Pinson (ex-Eve Lambert, Port Charles) would join the cast of Days of our Lives. Now, a show spokesperson has confirmed that the actress has indeed landed the contract role of Billie Reed.

August 2004 Not so fast -- Evans is Staying at ATWT Mary Beth Evans appears to have had a change of heart about setting up shop in One Life to Live's Llanview. Just two weeks after the announcement that the veteran soap star was going to appear on the ABC soap comes words that Evans will remain in place on CBS's As the World Turns.

September 2004 OLTL hires DAYS Scribe as new head writer ABC has announced that Days of our Lives writer Dena Higley has been named the new head writer of One Life to Live. She will outgoing head writer Michael Malone.

November 2004 OLTL goes dark as new head writer takes over One Life to Live's new head writer, former DAYS scribe Dena Higley, appears to be wasting no time with fixing what she perceives to be broken with the show. And in doing so, there are some casting changes on the horizon.

November 2004 Evans returns to ATWT -- as a contract player Mary Beth Evans (ex-Kayla Brady) returns to Oakdale later this month in a new capacity: She'll be a contract player for the first time since joining the show in 2000.
