Molly Burnett will exit the Emmy-nominated role of Melanie Jonas in the upcoming weeks. The actress has confirmed a report that she's opted not to renew her contract with Days of our Lives.

Two-time Emmy nominee Molly Burnett (Melanie Jonas) has confirmed that she will be exiting Days of our Lives in the near future.

"Going in, I knew it was a four-year contract and look, it's been the most amazing experience," Burnett told Soap Opera Digest. "Everyone is so loving and so wonderful and so supportive. It's going to be so hard.... I mean, this is my family."

Last week, Digest first reported on rumors that Burnett was mulling an exit from the NBC soap. One of the main reasons given for Burnett's desire to leave daytime was that her DAYS contract did not allow her so-called "outs" to pursue other projects.

As for what Burnett will do post-DAYS, the actress admitted that she's not quite sure.

"I just want to go explore; see what's up with this whole world," Burnett revealed.

Burnett joined Days of our Lives in June 2008. In 2010, the actress picked up her first Daytime Emmy nomination. The actress is nominated in the Outstanding Younger Actress category again this year.
