A new face will soon be headed to Days of our Lives -- but not necessarily a new character. And if the casting call issued for the role is any indication, he won't be too hard on the eyes.

The NBC soap is casting the role of "Derek," a Caucasian actor in his mid-20s. The character is described as "incredibly charismatic, intelligent, quick witted, and sincere with a heart of gold." The description also notes that when crossed, Derek can be quite dangerous.

The casting notice requires that all interested actors be at least 6'0" tall.

There is rampant speculation that the role of Derek is a cloaked casting for the role of Chad DiMera. Casey Deidrick has played the role of Chad since June 2009, but the actor has been booking primetime roles of late and there is a belief that the actor might be leaving DAYS.

Canadian actor/model Nick Bateman posted a DAYS audition photo to his Instagram account earlier today. Bateman did not reveal what role he had auditioned for.

The role of Derek is a contract role, and will begin shooting in July.
