Is Peter Reckell headed back to Days of our Lives? In a Twitter chat, the actor offered something of an answer, saying that fans "deserve better" for their years of support.
Since his exit from Days of our Lives nearly 18 months ago, fans have been wondering if Peter Reckell
) will ever return to the NBC soap. In a Twitter chat earlier this week through his @peterreckell account, the Emmy-nominated actor revealed that he would return to the show -- at least part-time -- to help wrap up his iconic character's storyline.
"Going back to DAYS, I don't think that will ever happen as a long term commitment," Reckell wrote to fans. "Going back to close out Bo's story in a respectful way??? I would do that for you. You deserve better then what they have done to Bo. You have been very faithful and dedicated for years, decades!"
As for what a wrap-up might entail, Reckell admitted that he hasn't been keeping up with DAYS since he left.
"Not sure what kind of story line could happen, I haven't watched the show. You would have better ideas," Reckel added. "Time to contact the show."
In June 2012
, Reckell announced that he'd be leaving a role he'd called his own for nearly 30 years due to, at least in part, another generation of characters coming to the story forefront.
"I took my place in the hierarchy of the show, in the storyline, moving others aside, in the [1980s]. Now others have moved into the place I once held," Reckell said at the time. "I have been very fortunate to have had such a long, meaningful, run. But now, with a torn heart, I have to say goodbye to the people, family, the character, that I love."
There have been rumblings in recent months that Days of our Lives might have had an interest in bringing Bo back into the fold, be it with Reckell or another actor in the part. After several weeks of whispers and published reports, the rumors have quieted down.
Since leaving DAYS, Reckell and wife Kelly Moneymaker, have relocated from Los Angeles to Nashville with their six=year-old daughter, Loden.
"The reason I haven't tweeted much recently is because we have moved," he explained. "We didn't want to raise our daughter in wacky LA. So we have moved east."
Meanwhile, in story, Bo has been said to be undercover working on a top-secret assignment.
Reckell originated the role of Bo Brady in 1983. He later left the show in 1987, before returning again from 1990 to 1992. His most recent return began in 1995 and ended January 30, 2013
