DAYS' writer exits; thanks fans for support

Today marks the final day that Days of our Lives fans will see material written by script writer Melissa Salmons.

It's not a trick, but it's definitely not a treat. Today marks the final day of material by Days of our Lives' former scriptwriter, Melissa Salmons.

The longtime soap opera scribe took to Twitter to announce that this is the last that viewers will see from her pen. "My last epi of Days/daytime airs 10/31," she tweeted. "Thank you all for the support and kind words over the years. And stay tuned -- more to come."

Salmons began her stint as a scriptwriter for DAYS in 2012. Prior to heading to Salem, she held the same position at As the World Turns, Another World, One Life to Live, Guiding Light, and The Young and the Restless.

Earlier this year, the Writers Guild honored the soap opera specialist with the Richard B. Jablow Award. Said WGA East President Michael Winship at the time, "Melissa Salmons has been a staunch and highly active member of the Writers Guild, East, serving on our council, the 2007 MBA negotiating committee, and as a trustee of the Writers' Guild-Industry Health Fund and the Producer-Writers Guild of America Pension Plan. These roles -- not to mention her skills as good friend, tireless organizer and thoughtful inciter of ideas and enthusiasm -- exemplify everything the Jablow Award was created to honor."

Salmons has also recently worked with former Salemite Alison Sweeney (ex-Sami Brady). She helped write Sweeney's film The Irresistible Blueberry Bakeshop and Café.

What do you think about Salmons' exit from DAYS? What kind of material would you like to see air on the NBC soap in the months ahead?
