DAYS' Jillian Clare to direct teen dance film starring several daytime stars

Days of our Lives alum Jillian Clare (ex-Abigail Deveraux) is set to direct the new dance film To The Beat!, and she cast a few daytime favorites for the teen dramedy.

Former Days of our Lives actress Jillian Clare (ex-Abigail Deveraux) is the latest daytime star to step behind the camera in the role of director, and she begins production on her new dance film, To The Beat!, next week.

The light-hearted dramedy tells the story of 14-year-old twin sisters who enter a contest to be dancers in their favorite pop star's music video. Their interest leads to a battle with their next-door rival, an impressive dancer who also wants to win the contest.

Marie Wilson (ex-Summer Townsend, DAYS; ex-Meg Snyder, As the World Turns) is set to play the mother of the twins; General Hospital alum Lilly Melgar (ex-Lily Riviera) has been cast as their fashionista aunt, Ana; DAYS' Eric Martsolf (Brady Black) plays the father of the spoiled neighbor girl; and DAYS' Martha Madison (ex-Belle Black) will portray the Paula Abdul-obsessed mother of the neighbor girl.

"I'm so excited to be directing some of my favorite costars including Martha, Marie, and Lilly, whom I worked with on Ladies of the Lake, and Eric, who I've known forever and worked with many years ago on Miss Behave," says Clare. "It's definitely these four soap veterans like you've never seen them before as they join about 25 teenagers in a fun, family dance movie."

To The Beat! is being produced by Susan Bernhardt and her company, Leonian Pictures, alongside Clare's own production company, Whimsical Entertainment. Additional cast, including the announcement of all the teen stars, will happen early next week, just prior to cameras rolling. To The Beat! is slated for a summer 2017 release.

UPDATE:
Madison took to Twitter to share that her first tape day was at the end of December. She wrote that not only was she having a blast working on the movie, but also that Clare is "killing it" as director.
