The Reel Emmy Story: Lead Actor/Actress
Posted Monday, June 16, 2008 12:10:51 PM
It's easy for a fan that watches the soaps every day to determine who was the best actor or actress on a particular show over the course of a year. However, in order to win an Emmy, a performer only has to put in two really good episodes in a calendar year. Is that fair? It depends on who you ask. Some critics have suggested that the media, the folks who watch every episode for their jobs, actually vote for the winners. Others say it is impossible to get a panel of judges to watch a year's worth of episodes.

Here are the clips submitted by the nominees this year for Emmy consideration.

Outstanding Lead Actor

Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott, The Young and the Restless) Apr 25th: Sharon tells Jack that she had an affair with Brad. Jack refuses to forgive her.

Dec 26th: Jack extends an invitation to dinner to Sharon as an apology.

Mar 20th: Adam blasts Krystal for her lies. Stuart tells Krystal how much she's hurt Adam.

Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer, General Hospital) Dec 10th: Tracy rails Luke for not fighting after he has a heart attack. Luke tells Sonny he fears getting old.

Dec 12th: Luke envisions life in hell, or at least his vision of it.

Christian J LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin, The Young and the Restless) Jul 17th: Michael tells William the truth about Gloria and what it was like having her as a mother.

Dec 17th: Michael tells Phyllis that Jana gave him the letter from John.

Thaao Penghlis (Andre DiMera, Days of our Lives) Sep 12th: Dressed as a clown, Andre goes to the hospital and torments Sami.

Sep 14th: Andre threatens to kill Roman and later taunts Kate.

Outstanding Lead Actress

Crystal Chappell (Olivia Spencer, Guiding Light) May 2nd: After breaking up with Buzz, Olivia blames Jeffrey for all of her problems. Aug 1st: Olivia learns that Jonathan faked his death and blackmails Reva. Olivia donates blood to save Dylan's life.
