GH, ABC Dominate SOD Awards

It was quite a night for GH and all of the ABC soaps. General Hospital took five Soap Opera Digest Awards --- plus two GH alum also went home with awards.

Nancy Lee Grahan (Alexis) won her very first SOD Awards for Supporting Actress. She'd been nominated three previous times.

Sarah Brown (Carly) continued her winning ways, winning her second award in two nominations. The actress won in 1998. "I admire you both," said Brown of her fellow nominees Kristian Alfonso (Hope, Days of our Lives) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, The Young and the Restless). "I've been watching you both since I was really, really young." Both actress took the joke in stride and were seen flashing smiles.

Maurice Benard won as Favorite Male Star. It was his second win in five nominations. He was last rewarded for his work back in 1996.

Anthony Geary (Luke) claimed the top male prize as Outstanding Leading Actor. Strangely, in all his years with GH, this was only Geary's fourth nomination and his second win.

On the alum side, Finola Hughes (formerly Anna Devane and now All My Children's Alex Devane) earned a Best Return award and Port Charles' Jon Lindstrom (Kevin Collins) took the Supporting Actor prize.
