GH confirms Lane Davies ouster

As first reported by Soap Central month, General Hospital newcomer Lane Davies (Cameron Lewis) will exit General Hospital sometime in early 2004. ABC has now confirmed the actor's departure.

"The storyline of Cameron Lewis will end in the coming weeks," ABC said in an official statement. "The cast and crew are most grateful for Lane's contributions to the daytime drama and wish him much success with his future," ABC Daytime concludes.

Davies exit is believed to be part of a major February Sweeps storyline that General Hospital execs are calling "apocalyptic." Davies is just one of three performers getting ready to exit the show.

Davies joined the cast of General Hospital in November 2002. His addition was heralded as a way to reunite the actor with Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis). Davies and Grahn previously appeared as a couple on NBC's now-defunct soap opera, Santa Barbara.

A final airdate has not yet been announced.
