Soap veteran Robin Mattson (ex-Heather Webber, GH) will join the cast of As the World Turns next month. The short-term stint in Oakdale will mark a return to daytime television for the Emmy-nominated actress. Mattson will appear in the newly-created role of Cheri, who is described by a showsperson as "a woman who gives Emily a run for her money."
Kiko Ellsworth
January 2007
When Kiko Ellsworth assumes the role of General Hospital's Stan Johnson in a few weeks, it will mark a homecoming, of sorts, for the actor. From 2000 to 2003 Ellsworth appeared in Port Charles on GH's sister-soap, Port Charles.

January 2007
In December, soapcentral.com reported on a hush-hush plot that General Hospital was devising for its February Sweeps storyline. The storyline was to feature a "new storytelling technique" that would be a first in daytime television. Well, soap fans, FebruarySweeps starts next week -- and on GH, Sweeps will get off to an explosive start.

February 2007
This summer, General Hospital is about to go where few daytime soaps have gone before - primetime. In an announcement made today, SOAPnet, the Disney-owned cable channel, revealed that it will air a limited-run GH spinoff in primetime later this year.
Vanessa Marcil
March 2007
Whispers that Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda Barrett) will soon be returning to General Hospital have grown louder in recent weeks. However, the rumors are nothing new: Internet chatter has claimed that the Emmy-winning actress would be "returning" to the ABC soap ever since she exited the show in 2003
Ted King
March 2007
In an announcement that the actor labels as either "unexpected" or "no surprise," depending upon your interest level in soaps, Ted King (Lorenzo Alcazar) has announced that he will be exiting General Hospital later this year. While the departure has been rumored for several weeks, King seized the opportunity to also dispel some rumors.

April 2007
The cast of the much anticipated General Hospital primetime spinoff, General Hospital: Night Shift, has now been announced. As expected, the cast will feature some of General Hospital's most popular younger stars - but there are also some new faces amongst the cast as well.
Billy Warlock
April 2007
After two recent high profile dismissals from daytime, Billy Warlock is once again headed back to give soaps another shot. But this time around Warlock is doing something that he hasn't done in nearly 21 years: he is getting ready to head into uncharted waters.
\ Scott Clifton
May 2007
Three-time Daytime Emmy nominee Scott Clifton (Dillon Quartermaine) will exit General Hospital. The actor has opted not to renew his contract with the ABC soap. Exactly when he is leaving, however, is very much in question.
Rick Hearst
May 2007
Two-time Emmy winner Rick Hearst will be missing in action from General Hospital for an undisclosed period of time. The actor, who is again nominated for an Emmy this year, underwent throat surgery. A rep for Hearst says he is making a speedy recovery.
Genie Francis
June 2007
Ask anyone the names of the most popular couple in daytime television history and nine-out-of-ten times the response will be "Luke and Laura." So it may be surprising that Genie Francis (Laura Spencer) had only been nominated for a Daytime Emmy once previously.
Natalia Livingston
July 2007
Emmy winner Natalia Livingston (Emily Quartermaine) has put to rest the revolving door rumors about her future with General Hospital. The actress, who was reported as having been fired from the ABC soap by some media outlets, reveals that she has inked a new contract and will be sticking around Port Charles for the foreseeable future.
Annie Wersching
September 2007
Annie Wersching is out as General Hospital's Amelia. The actress has landed a starring role on the FOX series 24. There's no word on how GH will handle the actress' exit.
Kelly Monaco
September 2007
Rumors are circulating that several GH stars will be exiting the show in the upcoming weeks. The honor for the most talked about potential exit, however, belongs to Kelly Monaco (Samantha McCall). The actress joined GH in 2003 after a three-year run on the GH spinoff, Port Charles.
Kirsten Storms
September 2007
GH star Kirsten Storms (ex-Belle Black) is the latest celebrity to be arrested on DUI charges in Los Angeles. While Storms may not have the same clout as some recently arrested celebs, the actress spent some time in jail and was ordered to pay a hefty fine. Storms joined General Hospital in 2005.
Sean Kanan
September 2007
Former General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful star Sean Kanan is due on court later this month to faces charges for an August arrest on suspicion of DUI. Kanan is the second soap star to face these charges. GH's Kirsten Storms (Maxie) was arrested earlier this month after failing a breathalyzer test.
Jay Pickett
September 2007
An Emmy winner, a former Port Charles star and a mystery character with no last name are all headed to General Hospital next month. The show has cast three recurring roles, all of which are expected to have at least some impact during the November Sweeps period.
Lindze Letherman
November 2007
It looks like Lindze Letherman's Georgie will be the next victim of the mass murder skulking about Port Charles. The actress will exit GH in December allowing her on-screen mom, popular GH vet Kristina Wagner, to make a brief return.
Sarah Brown
December 2007
Sarah J. Brown is headed back to daytime television -- but she will not be appearing as her best known role, General Hospital's Carly. Brown will play Claudia Zacchara, a new character for the ABC soap. The actress appeared most recently on CBS's As the World Turns.
Genie Francis
December 2007
It's not every day that a celebrity apologizes for exiting a program. Certainly it's even rarer for a star to apologize for something they'd done nearly two decades earlier. However, that's exactly what Genie Francis has done.
Jackie Zeman
December 2007
Long-time General Hospital veteran Jackie Zeman (Bobbie Spencer) has been taken off contract. Earlier in the year, the actress talked with soapcentral.com about her 30-plus years with the ABC soap.
