James Franco tapes GH scenes, will air as announced

James Franco will, in fact, return to General Hospital next month. The news comes several weeks after Franco said in an interview that he had no immediate plans to return to the ABC soap. Franco debuted as GH's Franco in 2009.

With as many projects as he has on his plate, you can't fault James Franco (Franco) for not being able to account of everything that's on his schedule. Last month, Franco refuted claims that he'd be returning to General Hospital in the near future. As it turns out, the Oscar-nominated actor was back on the GH set last week.

"I don't know if they like think I'm going to fly out on a weekend and shoot something, but I don't see it fitting into my schedule anytime soon," Franco told Access Hollywood in an interview that aired last month. "I'll go back, but they said [I'd be airing on] September 20 or something. I have no idea what they're talking about."

Franco returned to General Hospital on August 13 to tape episodes that will air next month. His scenes will air, as previously announced, beginning September 20.

Since making his daytime debut in November 2009, Franco has made several short-term appearances on General Hospital. He wrapped his most recent stint in March 2011. This time around, Franco's stay is expected to be "long-term." There's been no word from ABC how long Franco will be sticking around.

Franco is also currently filming an adaptation of the classic children's story, The Wizard of Oz. His latest film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, has grossed over $112 million at the box office since opening earlier this month.
