General Hospital will continue to develop storylines featuring its namesake medical facility. The show has cast the newly created role of a pediatrician, prompting speculation about what the character's storyline might entail.
General Hospital has hired another doctor -- a pediatrician. The ABC soap has announced that daytime newcomer Kodi Kitchen has been tapped as the show's newest contract player. Kitchen will play the role of Maggie, a pediatrician, beginning next month.
"Its official," Kitchen shared
via Twitter. "Had my first day of work, so elated and thankful!"
Maggie already has fans talking and asking a lot of questions. Why does the doctor not yet have a last name? Could she be related to a character already on the canvas? Some fans are also wondering if the need for a pediatrician signals that there might be a new pregnancy written into the show's stories -- or that one of the show's younger characters might have a medical anomaly.
Though General Hospital will mark Kitchen's first daytime role, the actress has experience with other drama series. She's guest starred on
CSI: NY, and appeared in the sitcoms
Cowgirl Up and
Hot Hot Los Angeles.
Kitchen taped her first scenes today. Those scenes are slated to air on November 10.
