GH enjoys record-breaking ratings for May sweeps

General Hospital and its fans have reason to celebrate. GH and ABC had their best sweeps ratings in seven years this May, showing gains in several key demographics.

May 2014 in Port Charles featured not one but two Luke Spencers, the heating up of Alexis and Julian's romance, an escalating mob war, a Nick/Liz/Ric triangle, another Nurses Ball, and the revelation of Connie's true murderer.

All that drama had record numbers of viewers tuning in to GH, 3.068 million viewers to be exact. That's the highest number of total viewers GH has had during May sweeps since 2007. The show also ranked as the number one show in daytime in Women 18-49 and the number one program in Women 18-34, a four-year high for that particular demographic.

In addition, the show showed gains in key measures including 8% in Total Viewers, 6% in Women 18-34, and 4% in Women 25-54. That's a stellar showing for a show that has been haunted by cancellation rumors since the demise of ABCs other daytime soaps.

GH's home network also fared well in the May Sweeps game. ABC showed the largest year-to-year growth of any broadcast network in total viewers and was the only network up across target female demographics.
