Bryan Craig opens up about his GH exit

General Hospital's Bryan Craig (ex-Morgan Corinthos) dishes on his dramatic Port Charles exit.

General Hospital fans were brought to utter devastation this week when Bryan Craig bid farewell to Port Charles in a dramatic storyline that ushered his alter ego, Morgan Corinthos, off the canvas. Though the exit was rough for fans, Craig welcomed it with open arms because ending his three-and-a-half-year run with the show leaves him free for other projects.

"It's really hard to schedule anything when you're at GH under contract," he told Soap Opera Digest. "There had been some projects that I had gotten close on -- and some things that I wasn't even able to give a shot because of the scheduling [challenges]. My manager and I just wanted to free ourselves up and see what came through."

However, walking away from a steady income was still unnerving. "Giving up your weekly paycheck is always a scary thing," he says. "But I talked it out with a couple of close friends and my parents, too, and Kelly [Thiebaud, ex-Britt, and his fiancée] definitely pushed me to go out there and see what I can get."

Fortunately, the actor landed a new gig almost immediately after saying goodbye to GH. While full details have yet to be released, Craig took to Twitter to tease fans about a new mystery project that forced him to shave his head. He has also taken to Twitter with a formal Port Charles goodbye. "Wow 2 my extremely talented GH family @MauriceBenard @lldubs @dom_zamprogna @MauraWest great job guys!" he tweeted. "Thank u for making my exit so special"
