GH's Rio Mangini lands new gig; soap forced to recast

General Hospital's Oscar is out! Portrayer Rio Mangini has booked a Netflix series, forcing the ABC soap to find a replacement actor to play the brand-new part of Josslyn's crush.

General Hospital is in a bit of pickle when it comes to the role of Josslyn's crush, Oscar. Portrayer Rio Mangini, who just debuted on the soap last week, is leaving the soap for another series, meaning the ABC soap must find another actor to play his role.

Deadline reports Mangini is headed to the new Netflix coming-of-age series Everything Sucks, which follows two groups of high school misfits, an A/V club, and a drama club who collide in 1996 Oregon.

"It's happening! Get ready for the ‘90s, bois!" Mangini wrote on Twitter.

"Some of our favorite shows of all time -- The Wonder Years, Happy Days, That 70s Show, Freaks and Geeks -- looked back at bygone eras with 20 years of hindsight," say Everything Sucks creators Ben York Jones and Michael Mohan. "We think this is a great time to take a look back at high school and relive the fashion, music, and attitudes of the mid-'90's the way we remember it. Not sensationalized, not watered down; but desperate, heartfelt, awkward, and exciting."

In addition to Mangini, the upcoming series will star Peyton Kennedy, Jahi Winston, Kate Messner, Luke O'Neil, Patch Darragh, Claudine Nako, Sydney Sweeney, Elijah Stevenson, and Quinn Liebling. Watch for the premiere in 2018.
