The popular actor took to social media to reveal that he has landed a role opposite Ice-T that is taking him to New York and New Jersey for filming this July.
"The reason I'm going out is I got a movie that I'm going to be doing that week with Ice-T called Equal Standard," the actor says in a video message posted to Twitter. "Can't wait to see you guys, I truly can't."
Benard also took the opportunity to give GH a shout-out in the post: he points at the TV screen in the background of his shot and shares, "Look what I'm watching. Oh, boy... Max and Sonny. Yes!"
Written by Taheim Bryan and directed by Brendan Kyle Cochrane, Equal Standard follows an off-duty New York City police detective who gets caught in an inner-city brawl with undercover cops who are convinced he is a local street thug. The melee ends in a tragic death followed by an uproar within gangs and among cops in neighboring communities and across the city.
In addition to Ice-T and Benard, the movie also stars Robert Clohessy and One Life to Live alum Tobias Truvillion (ex-Vincent Jones).

UPDATE (July 11, 2018)
A couple of weeks after his first post about his new gig, Benard shared a shot of himself in costume next to the film's movie poster, where he is featured prominently alongside his costars.
"Always great to play different characters," he shares via the post. "In New York playing a police captain. Very cool and interesting script."
