The clock chimes midnight, and Courtney and Jax begin to heatedly kiss. They rush into the bedroom, undressing each other when Courtney suddenly stops and realizes that the three-month time period is over and she is officially the winner. Jax writes her a check as she gloats, but his unhappiness at the situation quickly causes her to think he's a sore loser. He tells her that it has nothing to do with that, but rather that they had a chance at a good thing and she let her desire to win get in the way. She tells him he's being ridiculous, and asks why his competitiveness is ok but hers is not. Jax refuses to give in and leaves. Courtney sits and ponders the situation alone in her apartment. Realizing that Jax is really what she wants above all else, she goes to his penthouse and tries to apologize. He opens the door after she finally admits that he's what she really wants, and the two pick up where they left off with their kissing. Suddenly, a woman's voice calls to Jax from the back of the penthouse, and both stop kissing and look shocked.

Helena unleashes a curse on Nikolas and Emily's relationship, vowing that their union will bring bad things to those they love. She manages to disappear from the engagement party, and cause additional unrest that worries Emily. Nikolas tries to assure her, but the curse plays at the back of her mind. Meanwhile, Lucky gets word that Nurse Harris is in the hospital from an overdose. Ric warns them that without her testimony, her admission to being paid off by Helena and Tracy will only be hearsay. The party rushes to the hospital, where Bobbie fills them in on Donna Harris's condition. While everyone anxiously waits in the lobby, Lucky and Ric try to get Donna to admit again that she was paid off. She gets as far as admitting that she lied, but then dies just as Nikolas enters the room. He goes to tell Emily the news, and she begins to worry again about the curse. Back at Wyndemere, Helena reappears to fill Tracy in on the many Cassadine curses, and their successful history. Emily and Nikolas rush back to confront the women for murdering Donna, but Helena simply replies that while they are correct that Donna was murdered, they are incorrect about the guilty party-it was the curse that they forced her to place on them that actually killed the poor nurse.

Carly introduces John to Michael, and explains that he is Michael's grandfather. After helping with the boy's confusion, John sits with him in the chapel and says a prayer for Morgan. Back in the emergency unit, Sonny refuses to allow Steven to give Morgan the medicine. Steven warns Sonny that Morgan will die without it, and Jason tells Sonny to let Steven do his job. Carly, Michael, and John return and Sonny is not only stunned to see John's presence, but to also hear Michael refer to him as "grandpa." Carly takes Michael in to be with Morgan, and Sonny warns John that he won't allow him to use his family. Carly has Michael get Sonny and bring him into Morgan's room and they are all relieved to see the medicine begin to work. John is equally relieved, but Jason isn't convinced that the man is innocent. He sees John thanking Steven for his good work, and he warns the two that he will not let them take Sonny down. Back in Morgan's room, Carly's relief at seeing her son live and be around to see his own father convinces her that she must allow herself to get to know her own. She shares her wishes with Sonny, and he understands her need, but has no desire to let John use his wife and children to put him in prison.

Courtney and Jax's heated kiss turns cold when a woman calls out to him from the bedroom. Both are stunned, but Courtney's shock quickly turns to anger and she cracks Jax in the face. His nose bleeding, Jax chases after her swearing that he has no idea who the woman in the back of the apartment is. Courtney refuses to buy his story and yells that she's had it with him and plans to cash his check as soon as the banks open. She declares them officially over and leaves. Jax walks back into his penthouse and orders the woman to come out. A sheepish looking Skye emerges. Jax is stunned to see her, and she tells him that she's escaped to find Luke and clear her name. While Jax promises to do all he can to help her, he informs Skye that he will not do anything that would jeopardize his relationship with Courtney. Meanwhile, a devastated Courtney takes a run in order to try to clear her mind. She runs into Lois on the docks and informs her of the night's events. Lois sticks up for Jax, telling Courtney he's not cruel and likely has a good explanation. Courtney only listens somewhat, but returns to her apartment to hear Jax leaving a message for her on the machine. She listens to him ask for a chance to explain, but doesn't pick up until he's already gone.

Emily and Nikolas confront Helena and Tracy over Nurse Harris's murder. Helena tells them that the curse they forced her to place upon them is the reason Donna died. Nikolas refuses to buy into Helena's act, and tells her that she's the curse and the one who kills people. He and Emily return to Wyndemere, and although Nikolas does his best to help Emily feel better, she can't shake her fear that Helena's curse will have real effects. Lois brings over Lila's wedding dress to replace the sketch of Emily's the burned up, and Emily soon is able to assuage her fears and get on with wedding planning. Nikolas is happy to see Emily's choice of a dress, but their mood is again dashed when he accidentally spills red wine on the dress. Suddenly, Nikolas himself is questioning if the curse is true, but Emily is the one to reassure him. She pretends to be fine for Nikolas's sake, but later has nightmares of Helena and Tracy building curses together.

Jason warns John to stay away from Carly, but John refuses to buy into his intimidations. John tells him that while Sonny is his son in law, Jason means nothing to him and John vows to take him down if he gets in the way of his relationship with Carly. Carly overhears the men's exchange, and warns John herself. She tells her father that Jason protects her from everything, including herself, and she has far more trust and faith in him than she ever will in her father. Jason excuses himself to take Michael home, but Carly continues to tell John she has doubts about a future for the two of them. John tries to explain the situation, but Carly can't be sure she can trust him. She turns to Steven for advice, telling him a father she could count on was a dream she's had since she was a child. She asks Steven to be honest with her and tell her the truth about what John is after. Before he can, however, Jason returns and orders Steven away from Carly. Carly tells Jason he was out of line, but Jason continues to warn her to keep as far from Steven and John as she can.

Later, John reminds Steven to be sure to try to use his friendship with Carly to pump her full of good thoughts about John. Steven is clearly annoyed at the request to use Carly, and tells John that he'll do his best. John then runs into Michael who has spent the evening at home, getting pumped full of information on John by Jason. Michael uses the opportunity with his grandfather to tell John that he's evil and to stay away from him and his family. John is shocked by Michael's change of attitude, and Carly is stunned when she comes upon her son yelling at John. She orders Michael to behave and watch his manners, but Michael tells her that John is bad and that he isn't a family member anymore than AJ is. Carly demands to know who told Michael such information, and Jason happily informs her that it was him.

In Jax's apartment, Jax assures Skye that he plans to help her clear her name, but does NOT want to lose Courtney in the process. At the same time, in Courtney's apartment, Courtney receives a visit from Lois, who urges Courtney to give Jax the benefit of the doubt about surprising Jax with another woman at Jax's apartment the previous evening. As Courtney admits to Lois that Courtney isn't quite ready to talk to Jax, a messenger arrives with an armload of flowers from Jax for Courtney. Although Courtney tries to send the messenger away, Lois takes charge and insists that the messenger convey Courtney's heart-felt thanks to Jax. Before Courtney can register much of a protest, another messenger arrives with a box of gingersnaps -- Courtney's favorite cookies. Although Lois urges Courtney to enjoy her relationship with Jax, Courtney continues to protest that she is NOT interested in a fun-and-games-only relationship. At the same time, Skye warns Jax that he does NOT dare tell Courtney that Jax has been helping Skye hide out until Skye finds out who killed officer Ross Duncan. Later, Skye and Jax try to figure out where Luke might be and Skye remembers visiting Laura at St. Gabriel's in Montreal. However, they are interrupted when Ric knocks persistently at the door. After Skye scrambles into hiding, Jax lets Ric in and pretends to be shocked when Ric announces that Skye escaped from prison and that Ric has good reason to suspect that Skye might be hiding out with Jax. Jax first reminds Ric that the District Attorney needs a warrant to search Jax's apartment, then Jax suddenly changes his mind and invites Ric to go ahead and look around. Jax reminds Ric that Skye has three or four other ex-husbands, but Ric reminds Jax that Jax was the ONLY ex-husband who seemed visibly upset when Skye was convicted. As Ric quizzes Jax, Jax admits that, while he MIGHT consider hiding Skye, he would be even more worried that aiding and abetting Skye would endanger Jax's relationship with Courtney. After Ric makes a hasty inspection, Jax tries to convince Ric that Skye would have skipped the country by now and Ric confides Ric's belief that there would be NO hope of Skye clearing herself by returning to Port Charles. After Ric leaves, Jax reminds Skye that their first job is to find Luke.

At the Hospital, Lucky is stunned when Ric introduces Steven Webber to Lucky and encourages Steven to do whatever Steven can do to help Lucky in Lucky's campaign to clear Nikolas and Emily of Mary Bishop's death. After Ric leaves, Steven suggests to Lucky that the killer might have left some DNA evidence on the medication remaining in the medicine cup present in Mary's room when she died and Steven rushes off to check Mary's remaining medication.

At Wyndemere, as Nikolas and Emily discuss their future, they are surprised by a visit from Lorenzo Alcazar. Nikolas is surprised when Lorenzo suggests a joint business venture to help get the financially-troubled Cassadeine Empire back on its feet. Nikolas puts Lorenzo off. However, after Lorenzo leaves, Emily warns Nikolas that Alcazar is more dangerous than even Helena's supposed curse, and begs Nikolas to avoid doing business with Alcazar. Later, Lois spots Lorenzo stepping off the launch from Wyndemere and quizzes Lorenzo about his sudden interest in Nikolas Cassadine. Lois warns Lorenzo about trying to involve Nikolas in something illegal, but Lorenzo retorts that it is obvious that Lois does NOT feel called upon to warn Emily that Emily's brother Jason is engaged in illegal activities. Lois is surprised when Lorenzo suddenly asks what Lois actually wants from Lorenzo. At the same time, at Wyndemere, Emily is appalled when Nikolas admits that he wants to consider Lorenzo's business proposal. As Nikolas and Emily discuss their future, the minister suddenly arrives and sadly reports that the church where Nikolas and Emily planned to be married has burned to the ground. When Nikolas asks if arson is suspected, the pastor replies that it seems more likely that the fire was started by an 'Act of God,' such as a lightning strike. Meanwhile, Lorenzo and Lois call a truce long enough to enjoy some coffee together on the docks. Lorenzo admits that he wants to keep seeing Lois but has NO intention of changing his life any time soon, now that Sage is gone. After Lorenzo explains that, while Sage was alive, Lorenzo did WANT to try to set a good example for his niece, Lois suggests that Lorenzo should STILL consider turning his life around, then walks away. Later, at the Quartermaine Mansion, Tracy is shocked when Helena gloats about burning down the church where Nikolas and Emily planned to be married. Helena points out that it is imperative that Nikolas BELIEVE in the Cassadine Curse because Helena hopes that Nikolas would give Emily up if Nikolas believed that separation was the ONLY way to protect Emily from the Cassadine Curse. Later, at Wyndemere, Nikolas tries to reassure Emily that there is nothing to Helena's curse. However, Tracy and Helena continue to plot ways to make sure that Nikolas and Emily believe in the curse, just as Edward returns home to the Quartermaine mansion. Tracy and Helena are shocked when Edward declares that he is ready to help Helena and Tracy with their plans to derail Emily's plans to marry Nikolas.

At the Hospital, as John and Michael look on, Carly orders Jason to tell Michael that Jason's problem is with Durant's JOB -- and NOT with John himself. However, Jason refuses. Sonny arrives in the middle of the argument, and Michael immediately tattles that John wants to put Sonny in prison -- and Jason agrees with Michael's report about Durant's intentions. Sonny refuses to tell Michael that Michael's new grandfather is OK, but Sonny DOES reassure Michael that Sonny will NOT be going anywhere, then sends Michael off to be with Leticia in Morgan's room. After Michael leaves, John reminds Sonny that Durant's job IS to prosecute criminals and John asks if Sonny is making an admission of guilt when Sonny presumes that Durant intends to send Sonny to prison. Later, in Morgan's room, Michael asks Jason to continue warning Carly about Durant and Jason promises that he WILL continue attempting to persuade Carly. After Jason leaves, Michael tells Morgan that their new grandfather is a bad man and confides that Michael has a plan that will keep Carly away from Durant for good. After Jason leaves Michael and Morgan, Jason runs into Bobbie and Bobbie confirms that she was always pretty sure that Durant was Carly's father and confides that Durant paid Bobbie a visit. Meanwhile, John tells Sonny that he has no plans to actively go after Sonny because Carly's presence would be a conflict of interest for John. After Sonny remains suspicious, John insists that he will NOT lose touch with his only daughter over one criminal, even when that criminal is Sonny Corinthos. After Durant leaves, Carly admits that she WANTS to believe that her father is telling the truth. Later, Courtney is surprised when Leticia and Michael arrive at her apartment and inform Courtney about Morgan's condition. However, Courtney and Leticia are shocked when Michael announces that he is moving in with Courtney and refuses to go home until his mother gets Durant out of their lives. Meanwhile, at the Hospital, Bobbie fills Jason in on the details of Bobbie's meeting with Durant and Jason points out that the timing of Durant's visit to Bobbie changes everything. At the same time, as Sonny and Carly argue about Carly's need to know her father, Carly suddenly asks Sonny what SONNY would do if Sonny suddenly discovered that HE had a child he never knew about. Sonny admits that he would HATE everyone who had kept him from learning the truth -- but would still love the child. Sonny and Carly's argument is interrupted when Courtney calls to report that Michael has announced his plan to move in permanently with Courtney. At the same time, Durant meets with Steven to make plans to slip in to see Morgan and learns that Steven is puzzled by the DNA traces he tested on the medication in Mary Bishop's medicine cup -- because the closest match that Steven could make was with Sage Alcazar -- who was dead LONG before Mary Bishop was given the medication that killed her. Meanwhile, Sonny and Carly track Jason down to send Jason to collect Michael at Courtney's apartment, but Jason refuses, admitting that he believes that Michael is right about refusing to return home until Durant is out of their lives for good. Jason points out that Durant went to Bobbie AFTER Carly had already told Durant that Carly wanted nothing to do with Durant. Carly retorts that Jason's suspicions have been brought about by the fact that JASON does NOT love his own father. Carly immediately apologizes, but Jason coldly declares that he will go fetch Michael. After Jason leaves, Carly admits to Sonny that she does NOT know what she is saying half the time. Sonny points out that that is exactly the reason WHY Carly should NOT be talking to Durant. Later, as Michael munches on Jax's cookies at Courtney's place, Courtney is surprised when it is Jason who arrives to pick Michael up.

Later, Steven Webber reports to Lucky that the DNA tests he ran were inconclusive. At the same time, Durant meets with Lorenzo on the docks and informs Alcazar that Durant has DNA evidence that would tie Lorenzo to the actual murder of Mary Bishop. When Alcazar smugly insists that Durant would never be able to prove that Lorenzo was anywhere else EXCEPT in Venezuela, burying his beloved niece, Durant reminds Lorenzo that, even though Lorenzo's DNA is not actually on file, it would only be a matter of issuing a subpoena to correct that deficiency. Durant then offers to make the evidence disappear in exchange for Lorenzo's help in busting Sonny Corinthos and putting Sonny in prison for life. At the same time, in Morgan's Hospital room, Carly suggests that they let John visit Morgan, but Sonny refuses to even consider the possibility. Sonny tells Carly that CARLY can see John any time she wants, but Sonny wants the Federal prosecutor NOWHERE near Sonny's children. At the same time, at Courtney's apartment, Jason tries to convince Michael that trying to blackmail his own mother into staying away from Durant is NOT the right approach. When Michael goes to clean up, Courtney tries to apologize to Jason for her recent erratic behavior, but they are interrupted when Jax arrives.

Jax isn't pleased when Jason answers the door to Courtney's apartment when he goes to see her. Michael lies and tells him that he should leave them alone since Jason and Courtney were kissing. Courtney tries to explain that it isn't what it looks like but Jax accuses her of calling Jason and trying to get back with him without giving him a chance to explain what happened at his place earlier that day. Jax storms off. Jason and Courtney explain to Michael that he can't tell adults who they can like and who they can't like. Jason takes Michael home. Courtney sits and thinks about Jax.

Meanwhile, Alan and Justus aren't pleased when Edward invites Heather to move in and stay with him in his room and play the role of his nurse. Alan doesn't not trust Heather anywhere near his sick father. Justus acts as Edward's advisor and protector and wants the family to leave Edward alone and let him recuperate at home. Alan finds Heather on her laptop computer late that night and asks her why she is on the computer so late at night when she should be helping to take care of his father. Heather was actually pretending to be Luke and intercepts Skye's chat messages on the internet. She tries to get Skye to reveal where she is hiding so Heather can set her up some more. Skye actually believes Luke is using their very own code words to reach her in one of the chat rooms. Jax is very skeptical and warns Skye that this could be a setup and she shouldn't reveal where she is over the internet chat room. Skye gets a message just before she is going to reveal where she is telling her that the other chat messenger has logged off suddenly. Jax goes to G.H. to talk to Bobbie to find out if she has heard from Luke recently or not. Georgie and Dillon are also at G.H. to retrieve Georgie's bag she left there earlier. Lucas and Brook show up. Brook twisted her ankle wearing her new high heeled shoes. Georgie is dismayed when Dillon gets protective over Brook and insists on staying there until Brook is o.k. to go home. Courtney stops by Jax's place when he isn't home and leaves a message apologizing for what happened earlier and leaves without finding Skye, who is hiding in the hallway. Jax comes home and reads the note but is reluctant to call and set up a time to talk. Courtney gets a call from child services telling her she has been chosen from a list to be a foster parent to a child within 24 hours.

Jax goes to the hospital to talk to Bobbie about whether she heard from Luke or not. He runs into Sam who just talked to Steven about how Morgan is doing. He tells her that Morgan has been released from the hospital and that he hasn't seen Jason in a couple of hours. Jax tells her he just saw Jason at Courtney's and it looked like they may get back together again. Sam acts like it doesn't bother her but she gets home and sits in the dark waiting for Jason to get home. Jason takes Michael home and tells him it is time for bed. Sonny and Carly bring Morgan home after Sonny makes it clear to Steven that even though he is grateful to him for taking care of his son and saving his life he doesn't want Steven anywhere near his wife or children. Carly apologizes to Jason for what she said to him earlier at the hospital about his own estranged relationship with his father but wants him to stop trash talking her father to Michael anymore. Jason agrees not to talk about John to Michael anymore. Sonny tells Carly he doesn't want her father to have any contact with their children but tells her she can see her father anytime she wants. Carly receives a photo album that John sends to her home. She realizes it is a family album of his. She finds a picture of her grandmother that looks just like her. Sonny worries that Carly is already attached to the idea of being in her father's life. Jason reassures Sam that he and Courtney aren't back together and that she can live there as long as she wants. John Durant asks Steven to use his friendship with Carly to find out more about her and her marriage to Sonny. Steven surprises John by refusing to spy on Carly for him and stick to forensic work only. John meets with Alcazar and blackmails him into helping him bring Sonny down by using possible DNA evidence that links him to Mary's murder against him. Alcazar is surprised when John informs him that he is Carly's father and wants her out of Sonny's life eventually.

Courtney and Sam ran into each other on the docks, were friendly with each other and decided they should remain that way. Later, an older woman approached Sam and chastised her for being single and pregnant. Jason overheard the conversation and appeared in time to pretend to be Sam's husband and keep her from being embarrassed.

Courtney returned to her apartment to find Jax waiting for her. The two made up, and Courtney informed him that she was going to be fostering a 5-year-old boy for a short while. As Courtney and Jax kissed, the social worker arrived early, and Courtney's foster child ended up being a hot Latino teenage boy.

Ric admitted to Alexis that he really didn't think Emily killed Mary. Alexis was more worried about Kristina, though, even though the doctor had said she was fine. Ric suggested that Alexis take Kristina for a second opinion. The three went to the hospital, and Steven examined Kristina. His results were not alarming, either, but, once Ric was alone with the doctor, Ric wanted to know what he was holding back.

Alcazar warned Sonny and Jason about Durant's plans. Sonny was not interested in working with Alcazar against Durant, though. Carly visited with Durant to thank him for the family album. She learned that his mother had been a judge who was murdered by a crime family after sentencing a member of the crime family to prison. Sonny interrupted and asked to speak to Durant alone. Sonny said he knew about the plan with Alcazar, but Durant denied the whole thing. Later, Durant found Alcazar and taunted him with the DNA evidence.

Emily worked on getting the stain out of the wedding dress. Nikolas arrived, marriage license in hand, and announced that a justice of the peace was on the way to marry them in private. Emily spilled some salt, and Nikolas told her to throw salt over her shoulder to ward away bad luck, and then they discussed Helena' curse again. The judge arrived, but the ceremony was interrupted by Edward and Tracy. After the group argued, the ceremony finally resumed, until the judge collapsed during the vows. Nikolas went straight to the secret panel and found Helena, whom he accused of paying the judge. Finally, Helena told the judge to get up, but she still warned them that there would never be happiness for them if they were to get married. Later, Emily prepared a bubble bath, with candles lit throughout the room. A cold breeze blew through, blowing out some of the candles. Nikolas went to get some champagne, and Emily started soaking in the tub. Suddenly, Emily started to be pulled underwater!
