OLTL vet to take on GL's Dinah Marler

One Life to Live veteran Gina Tognoni (ex-Kelly Cramer) has landed the part of Dinah Marler on CBS's Guiding Light.


Last year, Tognoni passed on the chance to return to ABC's One Life to Live and reprise the role of Kelly. At the time, the actress stated that returning to One Life to Live was not in her immediate plans. The soap eventually lured Emmy winner Heather Tom from The Young and the Restless to take over the role of Kelly.


Tognoni held her One Life to Live role from 1995 through 2001, with a brief return in 2002.


Over on Guiding Light, Dinah was most recently portrayed by Wendy Moniz. Moniz debuted on Guiding Light in February 1995 and remained with the show through February 1999. She and former co-star Frank Grillo (ex-Hart Jessup) are expecting their first child later this year. Some fans have already expressed their displeasure that Moniz would not be reprising the role.


The move by Guiding Light to bring Dinah back to the canvas is seen as further proof that recently installed executive producer Ellen Wheeler intends to refocus the show's storylines on core families and core characters.
