Danny watches as Michelle, Robbie and Bill play catch football on Mystic Island. He recalls Michelle tearfully begging him to let she and Robbie go, for their safety and well being. Bill and Michelle discuss their mutual 'impossible' love affairs. They resolve to be there to support one another through the difficulties and prepare to go back to Springfield.

Tammy attempts to explain her shoplifting spree at the jewelry store. Cassie is understanding of the fact that her daughter just wanted her to have back the engagement ring that Richard gave her. Cassie goes to the jewelry storeowner to ask him to drop the charges against Tammy, but he says it's "out of his hands" and up to the courts now. She compounds her rejection by going to Danny once again to beg more time to pay off her debt of the borrowed money from the mob. Danny says he's out of favors and extended deadlines. As Cassie goes to leave she sees a stack of pictures of strippers. She tells Danny if he needs a stripper for a party, he should hire her instead. Danny initially rejects the idea, but relents with Cassie's desperate pleas.

Olivia talks to herself in the mirror, pretending it is Phillip. She tells "him" he should have a woman who can truly take care of his needs and give him all he desires and deserves in a woman. Alan comes into her room and they argue about his suspicion regarding her involvement with the publishing of Lorelei's diary. When Alan asks pointedly about the meaning of "D Day", Olivia whips out a velvet jewelry box containing custom-made diamond cufflinks for him. She claims the notation in her Palm Pilot was in regard to the day she picked up the diamonds she had flown in from Antwerp just for his gift. They make plans for the evening, and as Olivia is getting ready she accidentally breaks the back of one of the earrings that Alan gave her. Sam pops in and Olivia tells him that she has decided to give up on Phillip and instead focus her energy on Alan - that love between them can grow if she allows it. Sam offers to fix her earring and he later discovers the bugging device hidden inside. Sam tracks down Olivia and Alan on their date and pulls his sister aside to inform her of the radio transmitter within her earring. She is astonished that Alan has been eavesdropping on her conversations.

Olivia and Phillip find themselves getting wrapped up in their seduction. Alan arrives, having overheard their conversation through the microphone in Olivia's earrings. He walks in on Phillip and Olivia in a passionate embrace and collapses, clutching his chest. Phillip is horrified to think that he and Olivia have caused him to have another heart attack. They rush to his aid. Alan is taken to the hospital, where he secretly reveals that he faked the whole thing. Beth admits to Bill that her relationship with Phillip is suffering. He gives her an ultimatum: either admit that she wants to pursue a relationship with him or he is going to walk away. Beth assures him that she is interested in him, but she needs more time. Michelle returns home to Ed, who has her official separation papers. She decides to hand-deliver them to Danny. She learns that Danny went to visit her on the island, but walked away without telling her. He notes how happy she and Robbie looked, which only reaffirms his theory that it is better for them if he stays away. Marina meets Ben for dinner at Towers, sure that he has planned prank on her. Ben insists that he is not out for revenge; he truly does enjoy her company. Marina eventually loosens up and lets her guard down. Ben asks her to join him for a dance, but when he stands up he reveals that he isn't wearing pants. Marina takes the joke in stride and dances with him anyway, until they are both asked to leave for violating the dress code.

He said this case isn't about murder, but about love. He continued by saying that Reva was guilty of loving another person so much that she didn't think about the consequences. Josh said that Richard asked Reva for her help because he was in incredible pain. He asked the jury if they would want to live their life that way. She said the ring was what her dad gave to her mom and she knew how much Cassie loved that ring. She continued by saying she couldn't understand why she sold the ring. Cassie interrupted and they both realized it was hard to say that Richard died. Tammy didn't know whether to say he died or was killed.

Tammy told Cassie that maybe Richard really wanted this. She felt that maybe the medicine made him say things he didn't mean. Cassie said they would never know.

Reva and Josh prepare for the first day in court regarding the murder charge against Reva. Reva fears going to prison because she says in the eyes of the law she did indeed, kill someone. Josh counters that what she did was an act of mercy, not murder.

Blake, Ross and Holly all commiserate over the situation between Reva and Cassie - wishing it could be resolved some other way. While they are talking, the station calls to tell Holly that the ratings are plummeting because they are not covering Reva's trial. Blake suggests that Holly let her take over Reva's show in her absence. Blake thinks she can boost the ratings and help Reva's case both at the same time. Blake decides she will ask Edmund on the show as a guest.

Tammy also gets ready for her day in court on the shoplifting charges. As she and Cassie enter the courthouse, they run into Josh and Reva leaving. Tammy tells her aunt and uncle that she is there to face shoplifting charges for taking Cassie's engagement ring from the jewelry store. Once again, Josh and Reva offer Cassie money to help them - but Cassie is offended and violently denies the need for their assistance.

Danny confronts Edmund about the black rose left for Cassie and accuses him of leaving it, not the mob. Edmund condemns Danny for lending Cassie money from the mob. Danny relates that he did turn her down several times. He relented only after many desperate pleas from Cassie. Edmund and Danny both realize that neither of them sent the rose to Cassie. It must have come from someone higher -up in the mob, who is growing impatient for their money. Edmund threatens Danny that if anything happens to Cassie or her children that he will be the one who is responsible for starting it all with that loan.
