At a Glance
Michael Dempsey joined Guiding Light on November 4, 2005, in the role of Alan-Michael Spaulding.
Just prior to joining Guiding Light, Michael portrayed Tom Joad in PBS's The Grapes of Wrath. He has also appeared on ABC's One Life to Live and in several independent films. Michael has an extensive theater background and received critical acclaim for his recent performance as Mr. Roberts at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. His other credits include Edmund in Long Day's Journey Into Night on Broadway, John Brown in John Brown Now at the Lobby Theatre, and Bobby Kennedy in Women and Criminals off-Broadway. Michael studied history at UC Berkeley and acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. There he performed as Leontes in The Winter's Tale, Malachi Stack in The Matchmaker, and Lopakhin in The Cherry Orchard.
When not working, Dempsey is an avid sportsman who enjoys boxing and aikido. He was a 1995 California Lacrosse All-Star at Berkeley.
