Memorable Quote
Darcy Dekker to Lujack after he's found out that he's a Spaulding. This is in regards to his feelings for Beth Raines, May 1984:
"Face it Lujack, you're not what you use to be! You're losing your hold ON Beth! I'm surprised you even got a HOLD in the first place. Hey, after all she's with preppie boy now!"
Darcy to Lujack on May 27, 1984, while Lujack is trying to get the Galahads to leave the life of crime and Darcy had said that Lujack's girlfriend, Beth is trying to take over the gang (some of the other gange members are starting to agree with Lujack at this point) and Lujack has said she's dreaming:
"You're the one who's dreaming ... or drunk ... or out of your mind ... if you
think for one second you're gonna stop me." (She turns toward the gang, trying to keep her cool.) "Okay, look ... I don't know what number Lujack did on you. But I been fooled by him myself, so I ain't gonna hold it against you. I'll give you one more chance. Tell this prep jerk to kiss off ... now." (Desperate.) "C'mon guys. We'll have it made after we do our thing to those pigs on the Hill. You don't want to end up a loser like Lujack."
Brief Character History
In January 1984, when Cedars hospital orderly Floyd Parker won the lottery and stashed his winnings at "Company" restaurant, it was well-publicized. This well-publicized event caught the attention of an enterprising teenage tough named Lujack, leader of a street gang called "The Galahads." Lujack stole the money but later had a change of heart and gave it back to Floyd. While he was in jail, Lujack overheard a crooked cop tell someone that Alan Spaulding had hired him, while a prostitute named Karen Jansen was having photographs taken with them nearly nude, to plant cocaine in former District Attorney Ross Marler's car, in October 1983. Lujack hated privileged people like the Spauldings, so to spite them he came forward and cleared Ross' name. It soon became evident that Lujack had a soft, tender side, and he was deeply moved when Tony Reardon, the owner and operator of "Company", took him under his wings and hired him to work at "Company." Lujack met Beth Raines, who began tutoring him in hopes that he would swear off "The Galahads." But Darcy Dekker, Lujack's girlfriend and fellow gang member, had other ideas. Phillip Spaulding, who had recently ran away with Beth Raines to New York to get away from her abusive stepfather -- who was now in prison -- was a bit jealous, but he and Beth still planned to marry, and they believed the worse was behind them. Enter Mindy Lewis, who was pregnant >with Phillip's child! At first Rick Bauer convinced her to say that he was the father, and they announced their engagement. When Mindy's father, Billy Lewis railed at Dr. Ed Bauer (Rick's father), that Rick had impregnated his little girl, though, Ed set him straight by saying he had evidence that the child was really Phillip's. Feeling foolish, Billy barged in on Rick and Mindy's quickie wedding ceremony and broke it up in his usual straight forward way: "Why didn't you tell me Phillip Spaulding is the father of your baby?"
In the early Spring of 1984, Phillip felt trapped. He loved Beth, but felt he had to marry Mindy so that, unlike himself, his child could be raised by its biological parents. "I love you more than I'll ever love anyone else," Phillip told Beth gently, "but I've asked Mindy to be my wife." Phillip married Mindy but his heart still belonged to Beth. Meanwhile, Mindy was pining for Rick Bauer. A crushed Beth began to date Lujack in earnest. Much to the consternation of both Beth's mother, Cedars nurse Lillian Raines and Lillian's new boyfriend, Springfield police Lt. Jeff Saunders. But both Lillian and Jeff were more concerned not with Lujack, but his former girlfriend Darcy Dekker. One night Lujack and Beth went to a dance together, and not only had to contend with a jealous Phillip, but also a jealous Darcy. Darcy and the rest of "The Galahads" decided to crash the party. With Darcy's coarse battle cry of "Look out, preppies, the Galahads are back!" A fight broke out that compromised Lujack's parole.
Later in May 1984, after Ross Marler investigated for Alexandra "Alex" Spaulding, one of the heirs of the rich fortune left by her father Brandon Spaulding, the whereabouts of the baby that was taken away from her many years earlier when she got pregnant by a man that her father didn't approve of, Eric Luvonaczek -- a French artist -- who ended up selling the child, Brandon for a price. Ross figured out that Lujack was that child. Alex tearfully told Lujack that they were mother and son, he was horrified! Lujack spent his entire life striking out against wealthy autocrats like the Spauldings, only to discover that the same blue blood ran in his veins! Nonetheless, Alex was happy that he intended to leave "The Galahads" for a clean life with Beth. Meanwhile, Mindy miscarried her baby and divorced Phillip. When "The Galahads" terrorized Mindy and Phillip, Rick brazenly trashed the gang's garage in retaliation. Darcy was running "The Galahads" and she was in a fighting mood! Lt. Jeff Saunders who had already angered Alex convinced Lujack to go undercover to infiltrate the gang. Alex and Beth were livid when Lujack lied that he was going back to "The Galahads." Alex though was even more convinced that Lt. Jeff Saunders was a man she didn't like and didn't trust. And, soon Alex would have a reason to feel that way even more so. Lujack refused to tell both Alex and Beth why he was back with the gang, leaving Beth to turn once again to Phillip. By June 1984, Darcy caught on to Lujack's plan, she went on a rampage, shooting Lujack and holding Beth and Alex hostage at Cedars. Lujack talked her into giving up the fight, and Lt. Saunders arrested her. A few of the other "Galahads" -- Lucky, Martin "I.Q." Wilson and Gina Daniels -- were proud of Lujack's heroics and went straight.
In 1988, Darcy appeared back in Springfield for a short while. She had since straightened out her life and became a drug counselor and was in Springfield for a seminar at Cedars Hospital. After becoming reacquainted with Lillian Raines and Mindy Lewis, and providing help for addict Rose McLaren, Darcy went back to Chicago.
