Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Melissa Fumero has shared some pretty cool casting news: The actress, known in the daytime world as One Life to Live's Adriana Cramer, is set to guest star on One Day at a Time.
Fumero took to social media with the fun news, revealing that both she and her Brooklyn Nine-Nine costar Stephanie Beatriz took a quick trip from New York to Los Angeles so they could appear on the Netflix comedy series.
"Guess who's coming to hang with the Alverez family!?!!" the actress tweeted along with a boomerang photo of the pair sashaying through the iconic curtain used by Rita Moreno's character Lydia.
The comedy confirmed the news with a tweet of its own, writing: "Our familia keeps growing."
A modern re-twist of the classic sitcom of the same name, One Day at a Time follows a Cuban-American family led by single mother Penelope (Justina Machado). Entertainment Weekly reveals that Fumero and Beatriz will be a part of the same episode that will feature singer Gloria Estefan, who sings the opening theme.
"All this excitement over me & @iamstephbeatz guesting on @OneDayAtATime is amazing!" Fumero shared shortly after breaking the casting news. "Thank you for all the incredible love today twitter. We are beyond excited!!"
No airdate for Fumero and Beatriz's episode has been revealed, but season three of One Day at a Time is scheduled to debut in 2019.
This isn't the first time a soap opera star has shared extreme excitement about being included in the making of the popular Netflix series. General Hospital alum Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin Scorpio) recently directed an episode of the sitcom that she couldn't wait for fans to see.
