In a new move, the judges were introduced and walked out on stage, followed by our host, Ryan Seacrest. Ryan said the entrance was Simon's idea.

They were on the big stage, in front of 500 screaming fans, and more blue lights than all the K-Marts combined. Randy said any one of the 13 could win the whole thing. Kara vowed to be a tougher judge from here on out because the stakes were so high. Paula's advice was for the contestants to use the stage and not be afraid of it. Simon agreed that the contestants can't be intimidated by the stage and they had better remember the words to the songs.

The 13 were introduced one more time and Simon announced that tomorrow night there would be not one, but two eliminations. Gordon Ramsay was in the crowd.

Tonight's theme was the music of Michael Jackson. Forty years worth of film clips were shown in two minutes.

Lil Rounds was shown talking about her hometown of Memphis. Her family was shown, including her husband and three kids. She sang "The Way You Make Me Feel" from the "Bad" album. She wore white jeans, heels and an off-shoulder top. She looked good and sounded great. Randy spoke first, saying that she was great and put a new vibe on the song. Kara felt Lil set the bar very high for the others. She hoped that Lil would someday be on the radio. Paula liked her outfit and glam. She loved Lil's falsetto at the end. Simon was disappointed in her song choice and hated what she was wearing. Ryan urged her to ignore Simon's fashion suggestions.

Scottsdale, Arizona native Scott MacIntyre was profiled next. He has been blind since birth, and has a sister who is also visually impaired. His song choice was "Keep the Faith" from the "Dangerous" album. He played the piano and gave a strong performance. The crowd roared. Kara asked Scott if he had just learned the song this past week. He had. Kara liked the song choice and his delivering a message of hope. Paula felt he had given a very good performance and mentioned that the songwriter had been there and she probably appreciated it. Simon hated the song and thought it wasn't a well known enough song. Randy liked the song, but he thought the performance had been too safe. Simon asked for more sparks in the future.

Danny Gokey grew up in Milwaukee and music was always part of his life. He sang "PYT" from 1983. He danced around a bit and seemed very comfortable on stage. Paula adored him. Simon had really liked Danny's performance and appreciated his dancing and singing. Randy felt Danny really had it and had been very passionate and natural. Kara believed that he's a joyful singer and that's a great thing.

Michael Sarver was shown going home to see his family, especially his kids. Michael decided to sing "You Are Not Alone" which showed off his big voice. Simon said he wasn't the best singer but made up for his deficiencies with passion and heart. Randy thought he was one of the best tonight. Kara thought tonight showed how good he was. Paula called him a regular guy with extraordinary talent. She thought he filled out the song.

Jasmine Murray was all in pink. She confessed that the glam squad gave her new clothes. She comes from a close-knit family, the youngest of a big clan. Jasmine sang "I'll Be There." Randy recalled recording a version of that song with Mariah Carey. He thought Jasmine's version was pretty good. Kara was surprised, too and she liked the performance. Paula thought there were bright moments but some not so bright. Simon deemed it a decent attempt. He wanted her to lighten up and act her age.

Newly-married Kris Allen said the hardest part of the show thus far was being separated from his bride. With his guitar, he played and sang "Remember the Time." Kara noted that the girls like him a lot. Paula revealed that he had helped the other singers all week because he knew Michael Jackson's catalog so well. She thought he had a very sexy style and he did a great job. Simon thought he was likable and had given a good performance. He thought Kris should have kept his wife a secret from the public. He then said that he had just been kidding. Randy liked the song choice and said he had done a good job.

Allison Iraheta remembered how supportive her parents have been all her life. Tonight she sang "Give It to Me." In leather and boots, she showed off a hard rock voice. Paula claimed that she was still stunned that Allison is only 16 years old. She urged Allison to remain authentic. Simon liked her and said had been very good. Randy said she had been born with it. Kara urged her to continue singing hard rock songs.

Anoop Desai grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as an only child. He learned about his Indian culture and music as a child. Anoop sang "Beat It." Paula reluctantly went first. She thought the song was an untouchable. Simon said it had been horrible. He said he had looked stupid. Randy condemned the choice and said it was too karaoke. Kara had hoped for some variation and felt disconnected from him as a performer. Simon said based on what he had heard tonight, he wouldn't have included Anoop in the group of 13.

Jorge Nunez's mother and grandmother were shown sitting with Ryan. Jorge came from a small town in Puerto Rico. He sang the Jackson Five song "Never Can Say Goodbye." Randy thought the song had been very pitchy and old fashioned. Kara had no emotional connection to the song. Paula didn't think he had his heart in the song. He admitted that he had no choice but that it fitted his voice. Simon thought it had been a corny performance and that the arrangement was awful. Simon claimed that he couldn't wait for it to end.

Megan Joy Corkrey said she had been pushed into the competition by family and friends. She sang "Rockin' Robin" by the Jackson Five. Kara thought Megan had a real signature and she injected her personality into the song. Paula loved her quirky tone, but she hadn't felt it till the very end of the song. Simon thought it was a stupid song choice and the performance had been clumsy and awkward. Randy thought the song choice had done her in.

Adam Lambert was shown at home in Hollywood. He has been struggling to make it in show business. He sang "Black and White." He gave a vigorous performance. Paula thought he was the most accomplished singer ever on "American Idol." She said he had the whole package and will be in it till the end. Simon said Adam's performance had been in a totally different league than the other singers. He thought he had been very comfortable and made the song his own. Randy added that he could be recording right now. Kara agreed with the others and loved all the notes he had hit. She hoped Michael Jackson had been watching.

Matt Giraud from Kalamzoo, Michigan, had come from a very solid, all-American background. At the piano he played and sang "Human Nature." Randy thought it had been a good performance. Kara said he proved he was very talented. Paula had been blown away by him. Simon thought it had been a solid, meat-and-potatoes performance, especially coming after Adam's bravura singing.

Memphis girl Alexis Grace had been the last to sing. Her father's a musician and had a big influence on her. She sang "Dirty Diana." Kara liked her naughty side. Paula warned her to watch the over-singing. Randy thought it had been very good, but Simon didn't. He said it wasn't as good as Alexis thought it had been.

Tomorrow night there will be a surprise change in the show. Simon wasn't sure if the public will like it. Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson will perform.

Live from Hollywood, Ryan Seacrest welcomed the viewers and revealed that 33 million people had voted for last night's performers. He explained that there would be a new rule starting tonight. Until they reached the top five finalists - once and only once - the judges would have the option to save a competitor whom they feel had been incorrectly voted out. Chris Daughtry, for instance, had been an example of a performer who had been sent home too soon. The judges save might have kept Chris on the show through the finale, if the rule had existed then.

We were shown the palatial new home where the singers were staying while working on the show. It was like "The Beverly Hillbillies'" mansion, complete with the cement pond. The 13 then sang one more Michael Jackson song, "I Want You Back." The choreography was a little better than usual, and kudos to Scott MacIntyre for keeping up with the others, no mean feat for a man who's blind.

After a recap of last night's performances, Ryan reminded viewers that there would be two eliminations tonight. Michael Sarver talked about how hard they had been working, singing and rehearsing and filming the Ford music video. That proved to be the perfect intro for the Ford video, "We Will Rock You."

Ryan ordered the lights to be lowered. He called Michael Sarver to stand. He informed Michael that he was safe. Next up was Allison Iraheta. The nationwide vote kept Allison in the competition. Jasmine Murray stood up and Ryan asked her to come to center stage. Matt Giraud was asked to stand. Ryan reminded him that Randy compared him to Justin Timberlake. Matt was told that he was safe for one more week.

Kris Allen stood up next and Ryan then asked Megan Corkrey to join him. America voted and Kris was safe. Megan, on the other hand, was told to join Jasmine on stage. Ryan said only one would be moving on. After a long pause, Ryan announced that Megan was the one.

Jasmine was eliminated, unless the judges chose to save her. While they thought it over, Jasmine sang "I'll Be There" once more. Randy gave the judges' decision. Jasmine was not saved. She was going home. The tears were flowing as Jasmine's goodbye tape was played. She had to be dying inside as she watched her performances flashing by. It was heartbreaking.

After a commercial break, Ryan introduced Grammy-winning singer Kanye West. Kanye sang his hit "Heartless." He wore sunglasses the entire time. The crowd was enthusiastic. The judges were not at their table, which was a good thing because Kanye jumped on the table and used it as a stage. I don't know why he had a black scarf hanging out of his back pocket; perhaps he was going bowling after the show?

More results followed. Ryan asked Scott to stand and the nationwide vote revealed he had made it through. America voted and Alexis Grace was safe for another week. Danny Gokey also had more than enough votes to stay on the show.

Anoop Desai was on the brink. Ryan sent Anoop to the center stage. Adam Lambert heard what he wanted to hear: America had voted him in. Jorge Nunez and Lil Rounds remained. Jorge was asked to join Anoop, while Lil was told to take a seat. Lil was into the next round.

The final choice, therefore, came down to Anoop or Jorge.

Before they heard their fate, former "American Idol" victor Kelly Clarkson was introduced. She talked about her new CD that had just been released, and then Ryan asked her to sing his favorite song from the album. It was called "My Life Would Suck Without You," which Ryan thought was about his relationship with Simon. Kelly really belted the song, but I kept thinking that Simon probably hated her hair and outfit. Fortunately, the judges had no say anymore. Kelly's a star now.

Finally, Ryan read the results. Was it Anoop or Jorge? Anoop was safe for another week. Jorge had only one chance to remain - it would all come down to whether the judges' gave him the reprieve. Jorge reprised "Never Can Say Goodbye" while the judges made their decision. The judges would only have one save for the season. Simon announced that Jorge had not earned that save. He was sent home. A video replay of his journey on "American Idol" was shown as Jorge watched.
