House of the Dragon has officially been renewed for its fourth and final season, ahead of the third season, which is yet to be released. The Game of Thrones prequel series has carried the mantle for the universe from author George R.R. It was previously announced that production for the third season was slated to begin in early 2025, and recent reports indicate that the third season wrapped production in October 2025 and moved into post-production.The first season, which wrapped filming in February 2022, was released in August 2022. The second season wrapped filming in September 2023 to premiere in August 2024, marking a six- to nine-month time period for post-production. Additionally, HBO's Casey Bloys previously revealed that the House of the Dragon Season 3 release would skate just after the Emmy window on May 31.Much like the previous seasons, Seasons 3 and 4 will span between 8 and 10 episodes.
