IT: Welcome to Derry’s Fracis’s connection to Ginny & Georgia
In episode 3 of IT: Welcome to Derry, the viewers are taken to a moment back in time. A flashback scene comes to life featuring a young Francis. Francis visits a fair where he gets intrigued to get inside a magic shop. Inside the shop, eerie music surrounds the dark ambience. It is a scary atmosphere, which raises Francis’ worries.
He then comes across a secluded room where he hears a man call him. The voice tells him to come closer and not be afraid. Francis follows the man’s words and then comes face-to-face with an old man. Seeing the old man scares young Francis, and he scurries away. After he comes out of the shop, his father gives Francis a slingshot as a present. The role of young Francis is helmed by Diesel La Torraca, who takes on the role of Austin Miller in Ginny & Georgia.
Diesel La Torraca becomes the unique connection between the two series. Though the genres of the two series are completely different, he perfectly handles the nuances of his roles in a distinct manner. As this episode in IT: Welcome to Derry progresses, young Francis develops a bond with Rose. While they were playing beside the woods, Francis went inside the woods despite the incessant pleas from Rose.

He then gets completely lost, unable to find his way out. At this moment, he comes across an eerie form of IT. Francis tries to put on a brave act. However, it can be understood that he is extremely scared. He picks a huge stick to protect himself from it. The stick does not help as the creature begins to chase Francis. The creature was about to attack Francis when Rose arrived with the slingshot and helped Francis run away from the danger.
Though attacking the creature with the slingshot only makes it angrier. It begins to chase Rose and Francis as they try to escape this dire situation. They somehow manage to get out of the woods. They look back to see that the creature has stopped chasing them. Rose then tells Francis that the creature does not leave the woods.
Francis asks Rose about the creature, but she tells him that she does not know. The depiction of young Francis and his experience with IT is crucial in the storyline of IT: Welcome to Derry. Diesel La Torraca perfectly brought life to the struggles that Francis went through while he came across this dangerous situation.
In Ginny & Georgia, Diesel La Torraca’s performance as Austin captured the struggles that he went through while navigating the troubles because of his mother. Austin, despite being a child, understood the difficulties that his mother went through. His decision to eventually stand by his mother despite it all shows the love he has for her. All these emotions were authentically depicted by Diesel La Torraca in a nuanced manner.
