Welcome to the first annual Soap Opera Central Awards, known affectionately as The Dankies. The Dankies honor the best of the best of soap operas. What's unique about these awards is that the winners are all chosen by you, the soap opera fan. Sure, some awards profess to be chosen by soap fans, but that's not the case. A panel of magazine editors or show execs put together a ballot and ask for fans to vote on their choices. Not here. Over the past two months, Soap Opera Central users gathered together to nominate and then vote on the best of the best for the ten soaps currently on the air.

The winners of each of the different categories - seventeen in all - have been now made public throughout the Soap Opera Central web site. The categories range from the typical - Outstanding Leading Actor and Actress - to the slightly unusual - Most Memorable Moment and Least Favorite Character.

Now that the winners are known, there's just one final step in choosing the best of the best from last year. Each of the category winners from each of the ten soaps will now compete against one another. That means that the Leading Actress winners from All My Children through The Young and the Restless will now battle it out to determine who is the Top Outstanding Leading Actress on the soaps.

It's been a long process, but it's now time for you, the soap opera fan, to cast your votes and decide who takes home the top honors this year.
