Now that the Daytime Emmy nominations have been announced, many soap fans are wondering why their favorite performer or performers did not receive a nomination. While every performer is eligible for an Emmy nomination, a recent change in the nomination process has changed exactly whose name could end up on the final Emmy ballot.

Last year the Emmy board instituted a pre-nomination phase to help level the playing field for all soaps. Each soap holds its on pre-Emmy voting and selects two performers (or more if there ends up being a tie) in each category to ultimately compete against the other soaps' pre-nominees for a place on the final Emmy ballot.

Following is a list of each of the performers who earned pre-nominations by their respective soaps. In essence, these performers were selected as the best of their show by their colleagues.
