Primetime soap opera Dynasty will see another year, meaning viewers won't have to live through another soap cancellation -- yet, anyway.

Soap opera fans who've been tuning in to the revamped version of Dynasty will be happy to hear that the CW has renewed the primetime soap opera. And the network has also decided to give Riverdale, which stars All My Children alum Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos) more life, as well.

The series are just two of several that the CW decided to give early renewals. Additional shows that will continue airing include Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Black Lightning, The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supernatural.

"As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday-through-Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come," said the CW president Mark Pedowitz. "And I'm especially happy that we'll continue to work with the incredibly talented casts, producers, and writers who create the series our fans are so passionate about."

Interestingly enough, Dynasty -- which stars several soap actors, including Rick Hearst (ex-Ric Lansing, General Hospital) -- actually underperformed in ratings and is expected to be canceled at some point in the near future. Its ratings continue to be somewhat disappointing, even in its new Friday time slot. However, as Deadline reports, the reboot of the classic 1980s soap has a lucrative distribution deal with Netflix for CBS TV Studios, whose parent CBS co-owns the CW.

Execs at the CW also hope that the arrival of Nicollette Sheridan as Alexis Carrington will create a spark similar to what Joan Collins delivered when she joined the original series as Alexis in season two. It should be noted that Sheridan's first episode recently posted a small viewership uptick, meaning anything is possible!
