What happened during the week of May 5, 2014

Bill reclaimed his place as the CEO of Spencer Publications. He offered Katie a job, but she contemplated fighting for her position. Ridge suggested that Katie marry him and start a new life instead, and Katie gleefully broke the news of the engagement to Brooke. Quinn used a photo of her and Bill in bed to push Bill to make Wyatt a Spencer and legal heir. Bill complied because he'd wanted to do it, and he warned Quinn that using the photo would undoubtedly cause Hope to turn from Wyatt and fire Quinn from Forrester. Taylor and Thorne flew to town to talk to Aly about their new relationship. As Oliver warned Thorne against the move, Taylor broke the news to Aly. The incensed Aly brandished up a medieval axe Pam had left in the photo studio, and Taylor screamed.

E.J. and Sami ordered a hit on Nick. Sami thought twice about her and E.J.'s decision to get rid of Nick. Abigail was shocked when Nick told her that he knew about her affair with E.J. E.J. assured Abigail that he would not let Nick expose their affair. Nick taunted Will, and an enraged Will punched Nick. Will realized that Nick had something on Abigail. Lucas and Kate were furious about Nick's plan to keep Will from Arianna. Sonny took drastic steps to protect his family. Will learned that Sonny was willing to shoot Nick to protect him. Jordan and Kate got physical. Jordan felt threatened by Kate's news and decided to leave town. With Ben's help, Rafe convinced Jordan to stay in Salem. Aiden and Ciara's plan amused Hope. Eric surprised Nicole with a ring. Eric and Nicole told Jennifer of their marriage plans. While at Smith Island, Daniel realized that Nicole had hidden evidence that would have cleared Eric's name. Paige and J.J. got back together. J.J. told Bev that he only wanted to be friends with her. Julie convinced Nick to get help with his problems. Someone shot Nick, and there was no shortage of suspects.

The 2014 Nurses Ball kicked off with a bang when Liesl hijacked the opening number with a cabaret version of the traditional welcome that the nurses performed every year. Levi surprised Maxie by agreeing to take her to the Nurses Ball. Spencer accused Nikolas of looking at Elizabeth as if Nikolas wanted to marry her. Elizabeth agreed to attend the gala with Ric. Luke ordered Julian to kill Ava when Julian revealed that Ava had been feeding Sonny inside information for months. Julian balked at murdering his sister, but Luke threatened to have Julian killed if Julian failed to carry out the order. Sonny made arrangements for Ava to hide out on his private island before Julian could retaliate. Olivia put the pieces together and realized that Sonny had slept with Ava, so she ended things with Sonny. Julian warned Shawn that Ava had been responsible for Olivia's shooting on the terrace of the Metro Court Restaurant, but Ava blackmailed Shawn into keeping her secret. Franco and Carly found A.J.'s cell phone, which had recorded A.J.'s encounter with Ava before the shooting. Carly was frustrated that the static on the recording continued to hide Ava's secret. Patrick and Sabrina's premature newborn son remained stable. Robin refused to return home when Patrick told her about the accident. Liesl arranged for Victor to hand over the last frozen embryo to Dante and Lulu. Nathan demanded to know who his father was, but Liesl refused to name the man. Ned enlisted Kiki's help to expose Luke, so Kiki decided to tell Michael about Luke's unwanted advances. Luke took advantage of the spotlight to persuade Tracy to marry him during the ball. Lucy officiated the wedding.

Jill locked Colin up and tried to force him to sign divorce papers, but he insisted that he truly loved her. Dylan broke into Ian's hotel room and was arrested, but Ian wouldn't press charges. Avery contemplated quitting the cooking show, but she reconsidered when she learned she'd been booked on The Talk. Victor pressured Nikki to move back home, but she refused, and her multiple sclerosis flared up. Nikki said that she loved Dylan for the first time. Billy was suspicious when he couldn't find any record of Stitch prior to Stitch's Army stint. Chelsea learned that Victoria was pregnant, but she warned that she wouldn't keep it a secret indefinitely. Chloe tried to seduce a drunken Billy, but he passed out. Billy admitted that he cared about Chelsea. Kelly and Jack prepared to make love, but he backed out when Summer accused him of cheating on Phyllis. Summer later gave Jack her blessing to move on with his life, and he attempted to reconcile with Kelly. Neil and Hilary continued to hide their affair. Lily decided to set Neil up on a date. Abby questioned Leslie about Mariah, and Leslie assured Tyler that she'd never reveal his troubled past in Portland. Dylan urged Stitch to open up to Victoria if he wanted to have a real relationship with her. Victoria scheduled a paternity test. Stitch found out that Victoria had seen a gynecologist. Sharon underwent hypnotherapy to try to uncover her secret.

Noah took charge of Cassie and Richard's escape from San Cristobel. Marah's 18th birthday ended in confusion; she was arrested for underage drinking, and Noah found Josh and Reva in a compromising situation. Harley's "bug" at the Bauer house produced enough evidence for Agent Aitoro to warrant an investigation into Carmen's death and do DNA tests on her ashes. Danny and the Bauers blasted Harley for choosing her job over their friendship. Harley told Rick that she was pregnant. Edmund was proclaimed Prince of San Cristobel, and then proposed to Beth; she accepted. In the confusion and struggle to escape from San Cristobel, Richard thought he had killed Edmund, and Cassie was mistakenly left behind and captured. Edmund hid his ruthlessness from Beth. Lillian and Phillip were shocked at Beth's decision to marry Edmund as well as her cold, calculating behavior toward anyone in conflict with her or Edmund. Beth decided to keep the children in San Cristobel permanently. Richard, Noah, and the others prepared to find Cassie.
