At A Glance

Anna Maria Horsford is an American actress born and raised in Harlem, New York. The child of parents who immigrated from the island nation of Antigua & Barbuda in the West Indies, Horsford grew to love acting at a young age and attended the New York High School of Performing Arts.

Horsford, who claims her first big break came after she auditioned at the New York Shakespeare Festival, has starred in several films and television shows -- the first being the now-defunct Guiding Light, followed by shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Shield.

But Horsford's work in the entertainment industry goes beyond acting. She served as a producer of the PBS television show Soul! and the show Watch Your Mouth, has directed a couple of episodes of The Good News, and owns an Art Institute in upstate New York.
