Rowell Departing. Recast Questions Loom.

There's talk that The Young and the Restless might be recasting the role of Drucilla Winters. Talks between Victoria Rowell and show execs broke down last month and the actress was left without a new contract. Because of the breakdown, Rowell will depart the show this fall.
Rowell, a former dancer with American Ballet Theatre, debuted as Drucilla Barber in 1990. In 1998, the actress took a break from daytime television and concentrated on film and primetime television. Rowell is a regular in the series, "Diagnosis: Murder." She's also been seen in the 1997 motion picture, "Eve's Bayou."
A casting call has gone out for a late-20something African American character. It's unclear if this could be a role recast, which seems unlikely, or the attempt to introduce another character to the canvas.
