One of The Young and the Restless' biggest supercouples of all time will be reunited on-screen this spring. A show spokesperson has confirmed that Lauralee Bell and Michael Damian will reprise their roles as Cricket and Danny.
A major storyline development to play out on The Young and the Restless during May Sweeps will reunite one of the show's biggest supercouples, Christine Williams and Danny Romalotti.
As "Cricket" and Danny, Lauralee Bell
) and Michael Damian
) were one of Y&R's hottest couples in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Despite numerous appearances by each performer since that time, it's been the better part of a decade since the pair has appeared on-screen together.
That's all about to change.
's Michael Logan reports that The Young and the Restless is currently crafting "a major story development" that will see both Damian and Bell's alter egos return to Genoa City. But what is the big story? Logan hints
that the show could be revisiting the 1990s story involving a hit-and-run accident that Phyllis arranged in an attempt to kill Christine.
Earlier this month, soap
first reported that Y&R's head writer and executive producer, Maria Arena Bell, had been making inquiries about sister-in-law Lauralee Bell's availability. At the time, Lauralee Bell had indicated that she was actively auditioning for pilot season -- but she also didn't rule out a return to daytime.
Lauralee Bell last appeared on The Young and the Restless in November 2011
. Bell, the daughter of Y&R creators Lee Phillip Bell and the late William Bell, made her first appearance as Y&R's Christine in 1983.
It's been four years since Damian last visited Genoa City. The actor reprised the role of Danny in 2008
for what was believed to be Katherine Chancellor's funeral. Bell did not appear during that time, and her character was said to be in Europe and unable to return for the funeral. Damian first aired on Y&R in 1980.
Bell will first air on May 17. Damian makes his first appearance the following day, May 18.
