Y&R casts James A. Watson Jr. as new judge

The downfall of The Young and the Restless' Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) rages on with the addition of a new Genoa City judge, played by former Dallas actor James A. Watson, Jr.

Everything continues to crumble for The Young and the Restless' Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), who was stunned this week when his former lover, Elise Moxley (Jensen Buchanan), stepped out of the shadow of his blackmail by publicly admitting their former affair and recusing herself from standing as judge in the patriarch's upcoming trial. Her bold move has seemingly sealed Victor's fate, considering he no doubt planned to use the secret of their long-ago affair to bend the results of the court proceedings. But will he find another way to avoid paying for his crimes?

The plot will thicken in the weeks to come with the arrival of a new judge in Genoa City: James A. Watson, Jr., who steps into the role of Judge Murray on Thursday, March 24.

As fans may recall, Y&R recently put out a casting call for an African-American actor in the 40 to 50 age range to play an "intelligent, no-nonsense judge" for at least five episodes -- and it seems Watson, who also played a judge on Dallas back in 1987, was their man.

The actor has quite a lengthy résumé that includes appearances on television shows like The Love Boat, The District, Sister, Sister, and Matlock, as well as in films like Airplane II: The Sequel and Whitney. But something tells us being the one to potentially seal the Great Victor Newman's fate may be one of his most exciting roles to date!

What do you think about Watson stepping into the role of GC's new judge? How do you think Elise's decision to recuse herself from Victor's case affects the patriarch's future?
