Fans of The Young and the Restless can celebrate some upcoming material that includes Traci Abbott, because Beth Maitland reveals she's back on set at the CBS soap opera this week. But what do the writers have in store for the Genoa City novelist?

Genoa City feels pretty empty without plenty of scenes featuring Traci Abbott, so fans will be delighted to hear that Beth Maitland is back on set of The Young and the Restless this week to film more material for the CBS soap opera.

In response to a fan who tweeted about needing more Traci on the screen, Maitland revealed that while she won't air "for awhile," she's happy to be returning to work at Y&R.

At the moment, it's unclear what storyline will include Traci -- but if Maitland had a say in the drama ahead, she would vote for a storyline in which her alter ego's mystery-solving instincts come into play.

"We've already established that being a problem solver is something she's very good at. And if she was involved in a mystery, it would be Traci in a bigger world besides the Abbott family!" the actress enthuses to Soaps In Depth.

However, Matiland wouldn't want the writers to take it too far. "I don't know if I would want Traci to be like Jessica Fletcher from Murder, She Wrote," the actress muses, joking, "No one would ever have dinner with her, because someone always ends up dead!"
