Is Judith Chapman set to return as The Young and the Restless' Gloria Fisher? The actress opens up about her "gut-wrenching" exit and what she thinks about stepping back into the shoes of Kevin (Greg Rikaart) and Michael's (Christian LeBlanc) mom.

Fans of The Young and the Restless were understandably crushed when the powers that be decided to write off Judith Chapman's Genoa City character, Gloria Fisher, in 2018, and rumors of a return have persisted since that time. However, fans have become more and more convinced in the past few weeks that Gloria will soon be making her way back to the canvas -- but is it true?

In a recent interview on the YouTube show 6 Blocks Apart, which is hosted by Y&R alum Tristan Rogers (ex-Colin Atkinson), Chapman addressed the rumor, theorizing, "It's interesting -- I was looking on Facebook, and I have X amount of friends, X amount of followers, and they've been going through the roof. And I think part of it is because of these old reruns and a lot of people have been seeing me on reruns of Murder She Wrote, Magnum P.I., all these other shows that I've done over the years."

Chapman didn't reveal any future Y&R return plans to Rogers, with whom she starred on General Hospital in the mid-1980s (playing Ginny Blake Webber while he played Robert Scorpio), but she did say she would be open to reprising the role of Gloria -- even though she remains disappointed about having been written off two years ago.

"I thought I would finish my theatrical, film, television career at Y&R. So, when they phased me out the first time, it was gut-wrenching, and then, when I went back, it was great, and then they started phasing me out again!" she shares. "So, would I say, 'Yeah, burn me once, twice, what the hell? Yeah, I'm back,' [I would] because it's a great job, and it's an American iconic storytelling venue, and yes, we do need to stay on the air, we do."

Judith Chapman has been playing the role of Y&R's Gloria on-again, off-again since 2005. She played the role of DAYS' Anjelica Deveraux from 1989 to 1991 and returned to the NBC soap opera in 2019 as Diana Cooper -- a.k.a. Diana Colville. Chapman's other soap credits include General Hospital (ex-Ginny Blake Webber), Ryan's Hope (ex-Charlotte Greer), As the World Turns (ex-Natalie Hughes), and One Life to Live (ex-Sandra Montaigne).
