Tom has stopped by John's office and introduces himself as 'Tom, Ashley's friend'. He informs John that he was once married to Gloria and that his name is really 'Tom Fisher'. Tom tells John that he's in town trying to make amends with his family. John is furious that he has been lying to Ashley about who he really is. Tom is sure Ashley told John some good things about him and asks John to give him a chance. John is suspicious that Tom has come with plans to extort money from them. Tom tells John that Gloria didn't know he was in town and that she didn't know he was seeing Ashley. He says he wanted to be honest with John, so that's why he came to him. John tells him he doesn't believe a word he is saying and threatens Tom to stay away from his family. After Tom walks out the door after leaving John, he gives a wicked snicker, saying 'Good luck, Mikey'.

Meanwhile, Michael is waiting with a nervous Gloria at the Abbott house, where Michael has told Gloria they are going to tell John everything as soon as he gets home. All of a sudden, the doorbell rings. Gloria tenses up and goes to the door, but it's Kevin. After Kevin comes in, Gloria accuses Michael and Kevin of being in cahoots with each other about forcing her to confront John with the truth about Tom. Gloria is appalled that Tom forced himself into Kevin's new apartment and demanded to live there with Kevin. Gloria's nerves are shot....she goes to the kitchen to make some tea. Kevin takes this opportunity to tell Michael about his and Mac's plans to make a proposal to Nick and Sharon to buy the coffee house. Michael thinks this is a wonderful idea and says he's very proud of Kevin. He approves Kevin using the lottery money to fund this venture.

Jack is sitting at a table thinking about a conversation he had with Victoria about Seasons, when Ashley sits down and joins him. He brings it to Ashley's attention that Victoria and Brad seem to be meeting with some top-level marketing executives over at another table. Ashley suggests to Jack that since he is CEO of Chancellor Industries, that he should have Chancellor buy out Jabot. As they gaze over to Brad and Victoria's table, it looks as though they have closed the Seasons deal with the two executives. After the executives leave, Brad and Victoria make a toast to their prosperous working relationship.

Nick and Sharon are at home where Nick is telling her about the soapbox car he is planning to build with Noah. Sharon informs Nick that she plans on going back to work tomorrow. Nick is upset that Sharon didn't tell him she was planning on going back so soon. Nick tells Sharon he himself is not ready to go back to work, that Victoria is doing a good job. Sharon suggests he think about returning to work.....otherwise he may have trouble getting back his CEO position. Sharon thinks Nick has lost his passion for life and cares about nothing.

Phyllis meets up with Daniel at the park where he tells her Lily is gone, that her parents sent her to a boarding school in New Hampshire just to keep them apart. Phyllis says she wants to take Daniel home. A sad Daniel tells his mother that he feels they really have never had their own home.....they have always been staying somewhere else. He likes staying with the Abbotts, but feels like he doesn't belong.

Neil meets Devon at the hospital after he learns of Yolanda's overdose. Devon fears his mother will die. Olivia comes out and confirms to them that Yolanda did indeed overdose. She is unconscious and unstable. Olivia wants Devon to wait while she talks to Neil. She explains to Neil that Yolanda's condition is very serious. While they are talking, Devon wanders away. He sneaks into Yolanda's room.

Phyllis meets up with Jack, and they order a drink. She tells Jack the sad story of Daniel and Lily. She also tells him that she feels it's time for her and Daniel to find a place of their own as a family, as Daniel needs some structure and a real home.

Gloria and Michael are still waiting for John. The phone rings, and Gloria nervously answers it, figuring it's John, but it's Tom instead. Tom tells her to admit nothing to John and hangs up. She tells Michael it was a wrong number. They then hear John's car drive up. He storms into the house and slams the door. Gloria timidly asks him how his day was. Michael then announces: 'My mother and I have something to tell can't wait another moment'.

Kevin and Mac presented their idea for buying Crimson Lights to Nicholas and Sharon. Nick seemed impressed by their research, but Sharon said even if Crimson Lights was for sale, she had reservations about selling it to Kevin. The people in Genoa City had a long memory. Kevin said this was his chance to prove that he'd changed and become a responsible citizen. After they left, Kevin and Mac agreed that there was a lot of tension between Nick and Sharon, and they weren't sure the Newmans were going to sell the coffee house to them.

Sharon told Nick that she didn't want to sell Crimson Lights. It was the place where they'd met and where Nick had proposed to her. All their memories were tied up there, including how much Cassie had loved the place. It was where her friends still went. For Sharon, losing the coffee house would be losing a last tie to their daughter. Nick said all he could think of was the last time he'd seen Cassie there, when she'd sneaked out of the hospital and collapsed after trying to see Daniel. Sharon said she understood, but if he didn't care about his job at Newman, and he didn't care about Crimson Lights, what did he care about? Nick wondered if she still blamed him for letting Cassie go out that night. Sharon denied it, but she couldn't really meet his eyes, and Nick left.

When John got home, Michael told him that he needed to talk to him about something, but John insisted that Michael leave. He said he needed to talk privately to his wife. Michael left, but he warned Gloria that this would still have to be dealt with. After Michael was gone, John told Gloria that Tom had come to see him. With Tom's warning phone call ringing in her ears, Gloria said nothing and let John do all the talking. John had believed Tom's version of things: that Gloria had never known Tom was in town because Michael and Kevin had been covering for him. Gloria asked John to understand that Kevin and Michael had suffered abuse, too, and had only been protecting her. John disagreed and told Gloria the rest of his news.

Gloria was genuinely shocked to hear that Tom was the man Ashley had been seeing. She agreed that he'd been using Ashley to get information about her, or perhaps had even wanted Ashley's money. John said that what Michael had done was unforgivable. Maybe Kevin had been traumatized by Tom's return, but Michael had enabled Tom to get close to Ashley. What if he'd hurt her, or worse, had hurt Abby? He asked why Michael had come there that night, and Gloria lied and said they'd wanted to ask John if they could have Michael and Lauren's wedding in the Abbott home. John said that Michael was no longer welcome in his house. After John went upstairs to change out of his business suit, Gloria whispered that Tom hadn't destroyed her marriage; he'd saved it.

At the club spa, Tom sat down to have a drink with the disguised Sheila. He told her that he'd taken care of his problem. Sheila was uncomfortable when Michael came in and confronted Tom, afraid that he might recognize her. But Michael barely gave her a glance, taking Tom aside to tell him that he hadn't talked to John yet, but he still intended to. Tom told him it was too late. He'd sacrificed his interest in Ashley so that he could tell John himself. Only he'd made Gloria look innocent and Michael look like the villain. As Sheila listened, Michael told Tom that he hadn't won. There was a lot about himself that Michael had suppressed over the years, and Tom was about to find out how dangerous he could be. After Michael walked out, Tom told Sheila that Michael had just declared war on him. Sheila assured Tom that he wasn't alone; Tom now had an ally in her, and she would put her dollars on them winning.

Drucilla called Neil to tell him that Lily had been enrolled in her new boarding school in New Hampshire. When she found out that Yolanda had overdosed and Neil was at the hospital with Devon, Dru wanted to talk to Devon. Neil couldn't find him because Devon had disobeyed Olivia and gone into Yolanda's room, where he promised his unconscious mother that he was going to stay by her side and help her break her drug habit. When Neil and Olivia made him leave the room, Devon passionately argued that he should be by his mother's side. Liv and Neil finally agreed to let him sit by his mother, but they went back with him. When Yolanda woke up and figured out where she was, she became violent, wanting to get out of the hospital, and had to be forcibly restrained by orderlies while an upset Devon looked on.

Jack and Phyllis went to see an apartment that she was thinking of renting. Jack tried to talk her out of it, saying that she could find a better place. Phyllis reminded him that she didn't have a job and had nearly gone through her savings. Jack said that she and Daniel should remain at the Abbott house for a few months until she got back on her feet financially. Phyllis disagreed, saying that she needed to get Daniel moved into a permanent place before he started the year at his new school. Jack wondered if this was Phyllis's way of breaking away from him. Phyllis denied it, but while she was writing a check to her new landlord, Jack quietly left. Phyllis was stunned to realize that he was gone.

Gloria tells Ashley that the same Tom that Ashley's been seeing is her ex-husband. Ashley can't believe she befriended him, and is even more surprised when she learns Michael knew about Tom. Michael reveals to Kevin that Tom got the upper hand with John. Michael is so furious that Tom will always have control over them if they don't come clean about what he is doing to Gloria. Sheila, disguised as Jennifer, joins Tom at the bar. She listens to Tom gripe about Michael, Kevin and Lauren. Sheila catches on, and says he can't sit back and let people keep him miserable, saying that he has to hurt them back. Tom states that they seem to have a lot in common, then prepares for the worst when he sees Ashley enter. Ashley comes up and slaps him across the face. Sheila brings Tom back to her motel room so they can get better acquainted. Sheila surprises Tom when she pulls off her wig. Victoria reveals to Nick that ‘Seasons' is going to be on the shelf in time for the holidays. Nick is impressed, and she states that half the credit is due to Brad, saying that he is exactly the kind of guy he wants on her team. At the coffeehouse, Sharon has a fantasy that Cassie is with her and they talk about going school shopping. Sharon comes back to reality when Brad enters and sits with her. He tells her about the ‘Seasons' launch and Sharon tells Brad about the offer they got to buy the coffeehouse. Phyllis brings Daniel to their new apartment. The whole place is exquisitely decorated. Phyllis is shocked until she sees Jack, who says that the manager let him in earlier. Phyllis can't thank Jack enough, and Daniel is ecstatic about his new room and thanks Jack for this gesture. Daniel leaves to give them alone time, and Phyllis can't thank Jack enough. They kiss, which leads to making love.
