Amber tells Carson that if she can prove that Ji Min stole the money, then she can get off the hook with the law, and possibly get in Kay's good graces again. Jack tells Sharon that if Ji Min comes clean with the information about Jabot, he could possibly lose his Senate seat and ruin his reputation. Kay asks Cane to convince Jill to ask Ji Min to cancel the press conference, since she is the one who wants Ji Min to go public with the info. Amber heads to Ji Min's suite, but is thwarted when Cane comes down the hallway, knocks on the door, and is let in by Jill. David suggests that Nikki make her separation from Victor legal. He admits that he's falling for her, and she agrees that she thinks about it, too. Karen tells Victor and Neil that the government is pulling its multi-million dollar contract with Granville Global. Karen makes some calls and finds out that the person behind this appears to be Jack. Meanwhile, Jack tells Sharon that he bought the land Ji Min's grandparents live on and will evict them if Ji Min doesn't agree to stop the interview from happening. Cane and Jack separately call Ji Min to ask to speak to him before he goes on camera for the interview. At the hospital, Phyllis hands Summer over to Logan, who sends her for tests. Two deputies come in to take Phyllis into custody. Logan tells Nick and Michael that Summer has RSV, a serious respiratory tract infection.

Wednesday, September 5, 2007

Jill walks into Ji Min's room to find Amber looking over his dead body. Jill frantically tries to revive him as Amber calls 911. Logan explains Summer's illness to Nick, Daniel, Michael and Lauren. Nick tells Michael to find some way for them to speak with Phyllis at the prison. Jack phones Danielle to ask about Phyllis and he explains to Jack how the police came to the hospital to take Phyllis to prison. Nick comforts Summer and tells her that her mommy loves her very much. As Phyllis is being checked in at prison, she asks the guard if she can use the phone to call and check on her hospital. The guard tells her to not expect special favors and that she'll get a phone call after processing. The medics try to revive Ji Min but nothing can be done. Jill cradles Ji Min and cries as Amber looks on.

Phyllis explains to the guard about Summer being in the hospital and asks if the guard will call for her. The guard shows sympathy but explains that she's just going to have to wait like everyone else. Victoria visits Nick and Summer at the hospital. She tells him she'll call mom and dad but he doesn't want that. He says he doesn't want to deal with Nikki's attitude and their parents' arguing right now. Jack shows up in the hospital waiting room and Daniel explains what is going on. Lauren is concerned that Fen may have caught the illness from Summer. Amber frantically calls Michael and tells him that Ji Min is dead and that she found him. She says that Jill then found her with Ji Min's body and she doesn't know what to do. He tells her that he's on his way. Cane shows up, sees Amber, then goes inside to find that Ji Min is dead. Cane comforts Jill as they cover Ji Min's body with a sheet. Amber looks on from the doorway.

Jack visits with Nick and Summer and tells her that she's a strong little girl. Phyllis anxiously waits for the guard to finish checking her into prison. The guard explains some of the programs they'll enroll Phyllis into to curb her criminal behavior and anger management. Michael gets to Amber and wants her to tell him everything that happened. She explains that she had just walked in and found Ji Min when Jill walked in. Michael tells her to calm down and do everything that he tells her to. Jill tells Cane that she was just with Cane a little while ago, fixing his tie, and that she didn't realize that it would be the last time she'd see him alive. Cane tells her that Ji Min was lucky to have her in his life. She then says she should have stayed with him and maybe he'd be alive. Cane gets a call from Katherine asking if she should come over, but Cane tells her to wait at the mansion and they'll return later. Jill tells Cane that when she thinks of how Katherine treated Ji Min, she's the last person she wants to see right now. Cane hugs her to calm her as Amber looks on.

Katherine arrives to comfort Jill, but Jill asks her if she comes to gloat. Katherine tells Jill that she knows what it's like to lose a person that she'd give up anything for, and that she knows how much Jill cared about Ji Min. Jill finally breaks down and allows Katherine to comfort her. Maggie and Heather question Amber with Michael presents. Amber explains that the door was open a crack (though she really had a key card that Carson gave her) and that she found him lying there dead. She then tells them that she went to see Ji Min because she thinks that he stole the money that she, Daniel and Kevin had. Amber then tells them they need to search his room for some kind of proof that Ji Min stole the money. Michael tells Amber that he needs to make some calls and that she needs to calm down and not say anything to anyone while he's gone. Michael leaves and Amber looks over to Carson, who is standing in the lobby. Daniel tells Jack that he can't wait to see Ji Min's interview and Jack tells him that it may not happen. Lauren comes in with Fen and wants to know where Taylor is; she says she went to check on Fen and he was sneezing. Nick feeds Summer and tells her to get well soon so they can go home and he can read the stories to her that Phyllis left for her. The guard gives Phyllis her schedule and Phyllis asks if she can make a phone call, but the guard tells her she can make it during social time. Phyllis then pleads that she needs to talk to her husband to find out how her daughter is doing. The guard finally gives in and tells her to make a quick call on the payphone in her office. Phyllis phones Nick but gets his voicemail.

Michael then gets a call from Phyllis wanting to know how Summer is. He tells her that she's been diagnosed with R.S.V. and that they're doing everything they can to break her fever. Phyllis wants to know if she's going to be OK and Michael says that she is strong. Phyllis then asks Michael to work on getting her more phone access. Heather tells Michael that the detectives are searching Ji Min's room but that there are no signs of the money. She tells him they're looking for signs of a struggle. He asks if they know the cause of death, but Heather says it hasn't been determined yet. Cane calls Amber the Genoa City Angel of Death and she says it's not funny. He wonders why she would be in Ji Min's room and Amber tells him that she thinks Ji Min stole the money. He tells her that's all she's worried about; the cash. He leaves and Carson comes up to Amber. She's mad at him because he was supposed to be at Ji Min's place with her. He tells her it would have been worse if the police had found them both in Ji Min's apartment. Maggie questions Jill about what happened. Katherine steps outside while Maggie questions Jill. Maggie tells Jill that she's sorry about what she's just gone through and refers her to their department's grief counselor. Maggie asks if Ji Min had any medical issues; Jill tells her there were none that she knew of. She tells Maggie that she was last with Ji Min earlier that afternoon. He was late for an interview and went to find out why he hadn't arrived when she found Amber standing over Ji Min in his room. Jill asks Maggie what possible reason would Amber have to be in Ji Min's room but Maggie says they can't say anything right now. Jill asks how long it will take them to determine what happened. Maggie said that they're still investigating. Jill says that she has to know why this happened.

Carson gives Amber a drink to try to relax her. He thanks her for not mentioning him to the cops. Amber says that maybe in her follow-up statement she'll mention his name. Carson tells her that if the cops find the money she's off the hook, but if they find the money, they're all set. Heather questions Cane and tells him that Amber thinks Ji Min stole the money. She asks Cane if Ji Min ever said anything to make him think that he could be involved with stealing the money. Jill interrupts and is upset they are listening to Amber, that Ji Min didn't steal anything. Jill then asks if they think it's odd Ji Min died right before he gave the interview. Logan checks Fen and assures Lauren that he is not sick. Nick comes out to see if Michael has returned and is upset that he's not back yet. His phone then rings and he realizes that he missed a phone call. The warden comes in with Phyllis and explains there is a delay in getting her into her cell. Phyllis asks to use the phone to check on her baby. The warden tells her that the guard told him that she already gave her a call and tells her that he doesn't care what she did, who her family is or how much money she has, she is not getting any special privileges. He tells her to take a seat and wait. After he leaves the room, Phyllis stares at the payphone.

Amber asks Heather if they found the money in Ji Min's room. Heather says they didn't find any money. Maggie asks Amber if she told anyone else about her theory that Ji Min stole the money. Katherine tells Cane that she has to admit she didn't want Ji Min in Jill's life, but she didn't want anything like this to happen. Jill arrives at Ji Min's apartment as they cart his body away. She grabs the pillow from his bed, smells it and hugs on to it as she cries. Logan tells Nick, Daniel, Jack and Lauren that Summer's fever broke and she expects that she's going to be OK. Phyllis is left alone in the guard's office and she jumps back onto the payphone to call Nick. She tells him that she doesn't have much time and wants to know how Summer is. Just then the warden hangs up the phone.
