Beth Maitland, who originally joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in 1982, returned to the show in May 2001 after a two-year absence.
Born in Rapid City, South Dakota, Maitland and her family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona when she was seven. Already in Arizona, Maitland opted to attend Arizona State University, majoring in music and theatre.
Long before her college years, Maitland was already acting professionally. By age thirteen she had already appeared in numerous community theatre and dinner theatre productions. Plays in which she has appeared include Candide, You Can't Take It With You, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Maitland moved to Los Angeles in 1978 and worked in night clubs while taking acting classes at the Los Angeles Film Industry Workshop.
On television, Maitland had appeared in several made-for-television movies, including Good Time Harry, Situation Comedy, The New Love American Style, and the Carol Burnett Special Plaza Suite. On the silver screen, she had a supporting role in Mr. Holland's Opus.
During Beth's free time, she and her husband raise and train her five horses. In addition to equestrian, Maitland enjoys swimming, racquetball and bicycling. Maitland devotes her time to charitable organizations, such as the American Heart Association and The American Cancer Society.
