AMC's production crew coming together

All My Children's production team is slowly coming together. With less than a week to go before the show starts production, AMC now has head writers and several other producers.

While fans anxiously await the announcement of the names of more on-screen talent signed to All My Children, it is important to remember that it takes an army of behind-the-scenes talent to make the show come to life.

Prospect Park has yet to issue formal statements, but Soap Central has learned that an additional four members have been added to the show's crew.

Emmy winner Marlene McPherson has reportedly been hired as AMC's head writer. News of McPherson's hiring first surfaced earlier in the year. During an appearance on Soap Central Live, Soap Opera Uncensored's Nelson Branco revealed that McPherson, a purported All My Children fan, had been named head writer.

McPherson got her start in daytime working on script continuity for General Hospital. She later became a scriptwriter and associate head writer for Days of our Lives. In 2011, McPherson and writing partner, Darrell Ray Thomas, Jr., were named co-head writers of DAYS. Though the pair was relieved from their duties just a year later, their work on DAYS took home DAYS' first Outstanding Writing Team Daytime Emmy in 26 years.

McPherson will share head writing duties with Elizabeth Snyder, who had worked under McPherson at Days of our Lives as associate head writer from 2011 to 2012.

Meanwhile, daytime veteran Sonia Blangiardo has been named supervising producer of All My Children.

"I am so excited to go back to my AMC roots with this talented group of people," enthuses Blangiardo in an exclusive statement to... her own website, NYC Brand Productions. "[Newly appointed executive producer] Ginger Smith has some big plans, which long-time fans are going to love."

Blangiardo previously worked on All My Children as a production assistant and associate producer in the late 1990s. She also has worked on One Life to Live and As the World Turns.

Vivian Gundaker has been named coordinating producer of both All My Children and One Life to Live, according to her LinkedIn profile. From 1995 to 2010, Gundaker worked as a producer at both Another World and As the World Turns.
